Have just fitted my sterio into my car have used amps to run front and rear speakers through an active crossover when i change from radio to cd or vise versa or change tracks , there is a loud bang from the speakers it also does it when i turn the power off anyone got any ideas please.

Its coz you've amped every thing up mate quite normal just turn it down befour u turn it off at least the boom wont b as loud 8)

a "thud" when you switch off could be down to poor earthing of the amp, or a possible failure in one of the amp channels...

try making sure that the earth lead for the amp is connected to the body tightly and that there is no paint between the surfaces.
