Fairly easy as far as engine conversions go.

sump and oil pickup needs swaping for an E34 M50 sump as the E36 bowl is at the rear and E30 should be at the front

M52 *steel* manifolds to cut up :D

brake servo mod to allow inlet manifold to fit.

E30 M3 propshaft or modded 325i unit

A suitable ratio diff, something like 2.93 to 3.15

This should give you a starting point.

Also worth considering an E36 rack conversion while the motor is out and the rack is there :D

use E21 gearbox mounts, E36 325 alloy engine mount arms, E28 M5 engine mount rubbers to mount the engine and gearbox, they arn't pricey for example;
ECP
L/H: 337110070 14.50 pounds
R/H: 337110500 38.47 Pounds
Dealer
11 81 1 128 932 - Left - approx Ԛ£18
11 81 2 225 201 - Right - approx Ԛ£28

Tubuar manifold is much easier to mod than the cast manifold and was found in late 5series M52's and the E36 323/328. Plenty of options for the gearbox, either the e36 unit or some E30 units fit with modifications. The choice of prop depends on the output flange of the gearbox you get, the smaller flange can be coupled to an M20 prop. You can use the e30 m20 box but it needs the linkage and the bracket modding. The M20 box would generally require a 3.25 diff ratio

Remember if the engine is post 1992 it will be the M50B25TU, which has the vanos unit, the pre 1992 doesn't.

As for brakes I've seen the e30 servo swapped with the Renault 19 16valve one, a M" golf one and a porche 944 one, what ever your happiest with.

For the loom, I have read that E30 cabin side is fine and E34 M50 loom for engine side is best though I have no proof of this or know why, but I have seen a wiring list posted by Brianmooore on the zone for this combo.

There are so many ways to complete this conversion, I've never done it myself but of all the ones I've seen, read about and watched all I can tell you is its like a massive jigsaw where there is more than one piece that fits every slot. There is no hard and fast set of instructions for completing this conversion.
325i Tech 1 Touring, breaking.

2.5 high comp. M20, 3.64 LSD, Fully undersealed, Spax springs & Bilstein shocks, s/s exhaust, Alpina rep wheels and more.
