The more I think about it the more I'm convinced the 1 series (particulary in 3.5 Twin Turbo mode) is the spititual successor to the E30. Its compact its a saloon, its got decent power.

This concept Tii version would be the nuts if it ever got to production as unmolested as the concept E46 CSL did. Wont be cheap mind!

Ditto. Only downside is that I read somewhere that it's about 1500kg which imho is still a little on the heavy side.
E46 M3 CSL but dreaming of another E30.

that will be the air con, abs, air bags, sound dedening, sat nav, 15 thousand microchips to the point of a computer controlled fag lighter and modern crash safty,

because thats what people want. personaly id rather die in a light fast car than be crippled in a safe one.

that is stunning, and will def go into production, ive heard its going to have the e46 m3 engine so will be well fast, imo a 2 litre turbo motor would be better and a lot cheaper.

Where did you hear that? I would be very suprised as BMW dont generally (ever) fit old technology to new cars and sadly the e46 m3(best engine in the world imho) is classed as old technology, plus it would outperform the new M3 and they wouldnt let anything damage their halo model.

The 1 series coupe and cabrio are definitely the first BMW's I've wanted since the E30. :D But the streamlined hearse version looks crap, IMO. I guess in black its a suitable Addams family runabout

as the e36 m3 engine is 338hp then it wouldnt have much over a 135 enigne with a little bit of tweaking.

even the csl with 360hp could be eclipsed by the 135 3 litre turbo with only minor modifications.

you could probably bin the aircon and satnav if you bought it new. this could be the track bmw of choice in 15 years time.

out of interest what is the carpet made of? looks like a very hard to keep clean mesh or something  seats look top comfy.
