I get a bit of bother now and again from boy racers ( even with the "Baby on board" thing in the back window ), but I care not. A dab on the throttle normally lets them know the crack.

Mates of mates are always interested in the motor (325i Touring Manual) and Iv had to take a couple of them out for a spin. Most of them drive much more exotic machinery (Evo's, Scooby Doo's, VW GTi's Seat Turbo's etc) but are all well envious of the 6 pot. I think it has something to do with being a certain age and remembering when these were the mutts nutts. That's certainly why I bought one. It will be like an E46 M3 in years to come - you remember when they were top dog.

Only ever had one public reaction. I was parked up outside Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in Enfield (my god i should get a saxo...) and a couple of Local Bredbins came up and informed me that my car was 'bad'. Whilst initially shocked at the young mens lack of courtesy, and the sheer cheek of coming up and telling me they didnt like my car, i was later educated by a hip young man who knows his 'shit'.

Apparently, in Enfield, 'bad' actually means good. Going by this method, it is with pride that I now describe my car as 'bad' (good) 'Slow' (fast) 'Rusty' (mint) 'ugly' (pretty) and 'classy' (whorish).

Im down with the kids. Enfield Im a coming!

When im in the sport, i always get fellas gazing at the car, letting me out of junctions and trying to get me to send it sideways. It gets nothing but respect...

Now fella's in e36s's are a totally differnt kettle of fish, I have had alot of them revving their cars to the limiter while looking at me filling up with fuel at the petrol station......its a jealousy thing!

I had my sport out for the fist time in two months there on monday, just to get the engine running. I had a very scary moment at a roundabout........i didnt realise how icy it was. Just managed to correct it and no more....

I've had mixed reactions, from offers of cash to idiots in anything from porsches to the normal corsa brigade trying to race me, or prove their testies are bigger! The average driver in their average car don't even know what my car is anyway and just assume its a crap old bmw.

My sister and girlfriend are two of those people, neither have the mental ability to recognise anything as classic, from cars to movies they have this blinkered view that new is best, and rate a cars value by the number plate it wears. And your average person is exactly the same.

The only people that react to my car either way are at least people who recognise that to this day its still a good car and a modern classic, those that love it or are jelous of it.

When i had my 325i i had no problem getting out of side roads etc... Little boy racers on a saturday night had fun with them in their saxo's, jesus even a 1.1l metro tried it on.

At the moment i drive a mr2 turbo and so far only had 1 guy try to race it and that was some chavy knob in a golf gti, he lost terribly :D

Missed my 325i so much i bought another one just got to insure it on a classic insurance after xmas :D :D :D :D

Got offered £800 for my 320touring in the Ukraine (in a petrol station, by an army sgt)

its often turning heads (possibly the primer bonnet...)

I dont get folks racing me (no point in a m20b20) but there are a few guys round my age that are similarly annoyed that they dont have a 6 pot (even though they are kitted out with scoobs etc)

I get a good reaction. Other cars always wave me out of junctions, and i have never had to back down if i come head to head with another car on a narrow road. Everybody else moves out of the way, was the same with my old E30 also. Respect!

I do get good reactions but nearly always from people who know what it is and not just some old BMW.

I've got 4 cars.. all get very differnet reactions, especially from other road users and young women.

ST TDCi Mondeo Estate is probably the most ignored but probably the most suprising in terms of performance as its good for best part of 150mph. Women look at me like a dirty old man.

Ford Ka.. well I think people laugh, nothing like waiting behind sombody on the motor way only for them to pull over at the bottom of the hill and with your foot on the floor just stay relatively stationary. Women look at you like dirt, small car small penis.

Track prep'd Lotus Elise, gets a lot of looks and is fast enough to give most fezza's and porsches a run for their money, or at least it was until I lunched the engine last weekend.. , young women... snaps knicker elastic at 50 yards.

Finally the E30, well I hope its going to improve, 1st journey with a miss fire and a barry boy exhaust got plenty of negative looks. Only looks of interest was at a petrol station when I thought the local Vauxhall guys were going to come over and beat me up. Looking forward to the looks when I start to use a fully reace prep'd E30 as my daily station car 8)
