can anyone tell me if you can use a unichip ecu to run either a turboed or supercharged m50?

short answer is YES

stock ECU + Unichip would allow you to use a MAP sensor with the existing MAF so the ECUs can " see " the boost and of course alter fuel and timing to suit.

so itll run just aswell as a standalone? i wouldnt wanna put a risk on my engine and i can get a unichip pretty cheap. does anyone know who all is able to set them up?

Circuit Motors are worth a call, Unichip dealers and very experienced with mapping and BMW in general.

They are Castle Coombe Circuit BTW.

sorry to change the subject a bit but i was wondering if you could run one of the evolve chips with the unichip. not sure if thats possible and would there be any gains its on a 2.5 by the way . mitch

You can run any chip with the Unichip, doesn't matter if you already have an Evolve chip, Superchips chip, BBR chip, whatever. AS LONG as you map the Unichip last!!!! But there is no point in having one of these chips fitted if you already have the Unichip. It will give you no more power.

The new Uni-Q can also alow the engine to run with the AFM, MAF or MAS sensor REMOVED. You can then just map against boost pressure, or absolute manifold pressure

A much cheaper way to go than stand alone... or Megasquirt could be the other option... Speak to Ant

Ok thanks no AFM sounds good but im not sure if the uni chip i have is new enough.

Its kinda only just been released, Its called a Unichip Q or Unichip Q+

These retail at Ã‚£295+vat PLUS fitting and mapping. You can have shift lights and multi maps in it too, plus a whole load more. Its does pretty much as much as a stand alone does, including switching cooling fans on and off, water injection, etc, etc.
