clutch problem

looking at buying a cheap 4 door but there is a problem with the clutch as in.
When the clutch is pressed, it will work for about 30 seconds, then the oil pressure in it will drop, releasing the clutch slowly
any ideas is it costly or just a pain in the arse to do i'm assuming its the cylinder gone

I'd go with the cylinder, just a fanny on more than anything, good haggling point though, when I rang to get a quote for a new clutch at a garage they quoted me £250, and that was labour only!

Master can be a bit of a ball-ache - best to remove the front seat to give yourself a nice place to lie whilst you do it. Need to do the slave at the same time, which is the easier of the two to replace.

It can take longer to bleed through than to replace the units

Easily fixed, but deduct at least £150 off the price you would pay if it wasn't faulty.

Had the same problem a couple of years back, with mine the small rubber diaphragm in the clutch slave cylinder was perished, cost pennys to buy a new one ! bit fiddly to fix though
