Thought i'd start a thread for my IS so i can add things to it as i go along rather than having 4 threads running in different sections for the different parts of the project.

From the beginning!

Here's some pics from when i went to pick the car up form Warrington Manchester, check out my old Punto we all go through that stage! :D

Image

Image

These are the ones i took when i got it home. looks alittle tired :(

Image

Image

After a good polish it looked better but still not mint.

One day when i washed it i put a stiff brush through the bottom of the passenger side wing

I ordered two new genuine wings and booked the car in for a re-spray, i stripped all the car down ready and trailerd it over to the paint shop.

while i was stripping it a i also got a friend to tig some patches on the scuttle panel where i'd cut out the bad metal.

All on the trailer redy to go! :D

Once i'd got the car how i wanted it from the out side i started with the performance mods! winkeye

First of all there was the strut brace and a cone filter

heres the full thread but ive taken a few pics from it, some intresting dyno results with it

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... highlight=

Image

Image

Image

Here's a picture of a adaptor plate i machined up to go from round to square and still flow well. :D
Image

Since this thread i swapped from the stainless filter to a ITG one which still sounded good but didnt lose any performance :D

After abit of time i started to get board with this and over winter built the supercharger conversion it runs today.

Once again there is a full thread on the build but i've just chose a few pics :D

The last time you'll probably see my car behind a volvo winkeye

Image

Image

Image

Image

After the supercharger had been done i decided to make a new exhaust system for the car using the start of the down pipe and then making the rest from stainless steel from work

Image

All tacked up after ages groveling about under the car on axel stands trying to line it all up.

Image

My new back box from sebring :D

Fitted to the car

And powers no good with out control as they say :D

At the time of the opening i was buying a lot of clips and trims from the dealer and got talking to the parts guy who said what did i need all the bits for, you can guess the rest! When i got there they had planned on having the car outside but when they saw it they uncovered all the new 3 series and moved them around to get mine in which ment i got a sneeky preveiw! :D

Looking lovely mate, credit to you.

Are you a fellow engineer then ?

Hope to see you at a meet again.

After the PPC shoot i drove the car for abit and then decided to take it off the road on the next saturday but just as i took it off on saturday i spoke to andy everett about the car going in total BMW mag and so decided to put the car back on the road for just "one more run" to take the pictures for the mag and go and see kedge to have a go in his with a lightened flywheel witgh a vew to fitting one to mine.

BUT....after the shoot and on the way home from kedges it started to piss it down big style any way i came off the M1 on to the roads i know and started to make my way back to my house.

Until i pulled out on a roundabout behind a lorry ( so not going quick) and half way round the round about the backend stepped out and i slid in to one of those plastic white and yellow bollards saying keep left!

As i hit it ialso hit the wheel on the kurb poping the trye off the rim and chipping the rim, as i was facin gthe wrong way ona busy moptorway round about drove off down the my exit slowly with the rim clunking on the road and getting worse and worse as more bits of the rim chipped away

Image

I pulled over as soon as i could and swapped the wheel which wasn't easy as i had to use the BMW jack, blocking a lane of the road with lorrys flying past and then having to line up the spacer, my rim, the disc and the hub holes with only my phone light still in the pisssing down rain! :( :(

Any way drove 15miles home and it seamed to drive ok just pulled a little to the left (traking was knocked out). Got home and looked at the damage in some propper light  wing was bent at the bottom and so was some of the sill and also a dint in the chassis rail nothing out of place just dinted in abit.

So that night got on the phone to beardymatt and booked the car in for the body work, ordered another new genuine BMW wing, a sill and a half chassis leg.

Matt is working on the car now and it should be ready for collection wednesday, lookaly i kept the paint from the first re-spray so it will all match and the fact that its done less that 200miles since the re-spray and is undercover the rest of the time should all help it to look mint again!

I was realy gutted to see it looking unloved   SO DONT DO IT!!!

I've got some pics of the damage but there on my phone so i'll post up later.

Hopefully beardymatt is taking some picks of the work he's doing for me so i'll post them up to when i get them.

Here's what ive got planned ove the winter so far.....!

New suspension
Image

Every bush in the suspension set up including the rear beams! :D
Image

Brand new tank painted in two coats of zinc paint one gray primer and two gloss black! she ain't rotting!
Image

When the new engine goes in i'll be putting all these refirbed bits on her spray'd up in VHT "aluminium" colour

Image

Seen as i smashed up one wheel ive decided to fit two new tyres to my refirbed wheels (one on the left was a spare) and put the tyre off the drivers side current wheel on the one on the right as a good spare!

Image

Image

Also not to take any chances of anything having got bent in the crash i bought this new rack from Kedge on here and refirbed it so its like new! :D

Absolutelu Epic car, seems like you make all the good choices, nice repaint, nice brakes, suspension, tyres....and then the SC-setup, really nice.
Would you ever consider making some SC setups and sell them?
Congrats againg for one if not The nicest Is in the world!

all inall including the perchase of the car i have receipts up to £7288 but theres gonna be a few more £100 knocking about that i've missed.

The above includes all ware items like tyres discs and so on.

Must say i was very suprised at the figure! wouldn't like to think how much it would have been if i hadn't done almost all the work my self apart from the spraying! :D
