About £600 for new parts and (easy) DIY install.
Around £1000 for supply and professional install.
Best I've done off ebay is £160 + approx. £50 of new parts to complete.
LPG returns the same miles per kilogram as petrol, but, since it's about 20% less dense, returns around 20% less MPG.
Reckon on about 40% fuel cost savings and you won't be disappointed, but bigger savings are possible, especially if you do a lot of short journeys from cold and can find LPG at the cheaper end of the extremely wide range it retails at.
Considerable advantages as regards engine wear as well, of course.

My 325 touring has been on LPG for around 30,000 miles now.

Did a DIY install nearly 2 years ago, which was easy enough for a novice mechanic like myself (especially with a bit of electrical advice from Brianmoooore)

On a motorway run, trying to cruise at 80mph I get 25mpg on LPG, and I used to get 31'ish on petrol. I pay 44.9 pence per litre for my gas so I'm making substantial savings, and the kit has easily paid for itself (nearly several times over)

Infact using these numbers, the new DIY cost Brain gave, and assuming petrol stays at 102ppl, I reckon LPG pays for itself within 9,000 miles.

There's theoretically a small reduction in power output with a venturi system, but it's very small and not noticeable in practice. If the original fueling system is in less than perfect order, then you may even get a gain.
If you build an engine specifically for LPG without compromises to allow it to run on petrol as well, then you should be able to exceed the original output.
A vapour injection system shouldn't suffer any power loss at all, if set up correctly.

OK, so mine's a 320i so not exactly what is asked for in the original post, but here's my 2p worth.
I fitted my LPG system 5 months ago at a total cost of around £750. I've now done 5500 miles with it at a total fuel cost of £530. Using the 80% figure, I calculate that I've already saved over £400 on fuel.

dont bother with lpg if you cant afford to run a 325i on petrol buy a 1.0 ford fiesta.

HaHaHaHa nice answer Mr Mooooore made me chuckle it's something I would look into doing if the cash was there as i have to go up the line to hereford from Cornwall every other week costs me £102.00 in petrol for two trips oh the days when petrol was 49p a litre.

You'd save £50 a time, and be able to fill from Countrywide Farmers key operated pumps or Asda at Bristol.

MMMMMMMMMM, how tempting, speed isnt an issue quiet happy to sit at 70-80 minding my own business so any loss in performance I wouldnt notice and I dont suppose most people would anyway, now to try and source a kit or dealer/garage, my only concern is whilst watching wheelerdealers once they had that Range Rover in for a conversion and the garage rejected it for its emissions etc. Not saying my tourings a bag of nails but at the moment being the new owner ive got to sort out alot of problems on the car that previous owners have neglected to attend to. And as its meant to be a bargain car (free) she was dumped at work, my other half gets that look when I spend too much cash on it, as her E36 goes without.

Any LPG powered car that fails on emissions has something very seriously wrong with it! Mine (an '88 non cat car) easily passes the emissions standards for post '92 cat equipped cars.
There will be no noticeable loss in performance on a correctly specced and set up system.

Will ahve to get my exhaust system sorted first, undo what was done before and start afresh, thwen get a spanner twirler to visit and do a home tune just to get her running as sweet as possible, then an emmisions check then I,ll have a proper look into this.

no i dont have subs in the spare wheel well and have never seen an lpg tank there either only

the big ugly ones what take up half your boot.

and no need for a spare wheel well when you have aftermarket wheels as you either have runflats or

carry a can of quick repair.

and cant get to the well as most who do boot builds have faulse floors.
