Has anybody ever traced the original owners from new of their cherished mounts, not to contact them but as a curiosity. I have just found out that my E30 didn't start life with its current registration so now i'm curious when it was changed, by who, and how long they kept it. Does anybody know the full history of previous owners on their car or is it not possible?

Yeah. I traced mine back. Mainly through the extensive history file. Mines interesting that it was never registered new as an F reg!
It was registered at Quadrifoglio (dealer no. 14319) as 7910 JW for a family called "Webb" on the 10/05/1989. They had a business in the Southampton area called R.F.Webb ltd and al the invoices have that company name on them. Anyone know them or what they did? It never saw an F plate until 21/12/1992 when that plate was taken off and replaced with F674 URC.
2nd owner was a Miss Kim Inwards from Wokingham who bought the car (25674 miles) from Altwood BMW in Maidenhead on 26/01/1993.
3rd Owner Was a Mr Terence Bullas from Gillingham who bought the vehicle (not sure where he purchased it from)
on 10.10.1998 and re registered the car as 979 GOC. This plate was removed on the 13/04/1999 and F674 URC went back on it.
4th Owner was Mrs.C. Bullas (relation to No. 3??) also from Gillingham, who bought the car in March 2001. She re registered it the same month as 5157 D.
5th Owner was Mr. Kevin Marks , again from Gillingham, who bought the vehicle on 12/06/2002 by which time it was F674 URC (again).
6th Owner was Mr. Richard D'Arcy from Horam in Sussex who bought the vehicle on the 15/03/2003.
7th Owner ME. I bought it on the 18.05.2004 from the above. It now wears my plate (B7 and my initials).
All a bit sad really but it interests me!

I have got a list of the 11 previous owners of my touring! 3 have been the same garage and some of the other change of owners were amongst family members. Cost £5 from DVLA to get all the previous copies of the V5's they have on record.

My Touring came pretty much FBMWSH so as a result I know all the history.
Mines had 4 previous owners....
Woman who bought it new ( had the good taste to have it loaded up with options)
The Tax Inspector (he owned it for ten years and spent 18 grand on it)
My Landlord (owned it for 2 months,he didn't tell his wife he was buying it and she made him sell it again)
The lastly my best mate (he had it for 8 months before getting a company car)
Now me (I've had the ole girl for five years & covered 84,000 miles)
Once the bodywork tidy up is finished she'll be looking bootyful once again

E30Mark that is a gem of a link. I'm the 11th keeper of mine so £5 will be well worth it to find out all that info. Thing is would go back to through to its previous reg?E30Mark wrote:To get the previous owners information from the DVLA you need to fill in form V888 - more info in link below,

I bought my grey car from the only previous owner, first his name then in his wifes. Lucky he replaced anything with OEM parts. Still have original tax disc holder, key fobs, tools ETC.
The red one has had 10 others swapping the good bits out everytime it changed hands.

Thats where mine suffered with so many owners. I'd love an original Quadrifoglio tax disc holder and plates. I can't find any reference to them at all. Never heard of them as a dealer prior to buying the car yet the service book is stamped by them as the supplying dealer. Type Quadrifoglio into Google and fack all comes up.lance1a wrote: Still have original tax disc holder, key fobs, tools ETC.![]()

I got my sport from a work mate, he was also the guy who painted it for me. He got it from the son of the deceased original owner who was 70 when he bought it new in 89! He passed away when he was 85 so the son inherited the car, he didn't want it as it was just an old car to him so sold it with 27000 miles on it to a friend of the family who is my workmate. He sold it to me with 32000 miles after owning it for two years. It now has 45000 miles on it.
The supplying dealer was L&C in Croydon, now cooper bmw.

The Dahls must've liked bmws -ever seen that Southbank show documentary on him - he spends half of it driving about in an e28 which he must have bumped into something with by the looks of it. He even wrote a story about a guy who buys a new BMW and picks up a hitchhiker/ professional pickpocket who eggs him on to drive it up the motorway at over a ton, they get pulled over by the filth but the hitchhiker steals the policemans notebook with all their details in it and saves the day (ahh the old days). It has a nice description of driving the car and how it hates going slow and just wants you to put your foot down which I always remember.
Incidentally its funny but do you think there's a single person on this forum who has owned their e30 from new.

There was a guy who turned up at a Guildford meet in the summer who was the original owner of his convertible. Cant remember his name though.

This is a cracking service from the DVLA. I have used it a couple of times now and it's great!
My Sport had a private number on it when it was about a year old and there are details of this included in what they send you (also details of what car previously carried that reg.)It has now reverted back to it's original number it had when new and the owner at the time had the forethought to keep hold of the original supplying dealer plates which are still with the car ...........i'm happy
I only found mine had been under a different reg when BMW Main Agents couldn't find it on present reg but did by chassis numbers etc & informed me.
Incidentally, they also supplied the spec sheet for it which shows that all the Alpina goodies may be genuine but were not fitted by them !

I'm the 3rd owner of my car, although only the second household. The original owner had it as a company car, but he ended up buying it for his wife. I bought it in December 1996 with 52K on the clock, and have done another 100K since then.

I've just downloaded the V888 form, to investigate the 318iS' history. I'm trying to find out who changed the speedo when it was 6 years old. Since then it has only done a genuine 42000 miles. One interesting thing when I bought it was I found an old tax disc tucked behind others in the holder, with a similar (but not the same) registration on it. I checked it out and it had belonged to a black M3! I've no idea what it was doing there.

Wow what a link to the DVLA, mega useful as im now the 11th owner of my Touring I would like to know the cars history, would be really interesting to find out whats been done to the car in the past, I know the last owner as he worked in the same place as me but is in sunnier climes at the moment so I have to wait to make contact to get some info from him, as I filled a bin bag with unwanted wires from a previous stereo install and my headlights have got small bulbs in the top of them that change colour
(very pretty) but not what I want, I seem to be spending my time chasing wires through the car
but I shall be in touch with DVLA to get the history.

Just fill in sections 1 and 5, then sign and date. Include a cheque for £5 to DVLA. Then send to:trigger wrote:csl wrote:E30Mark wrote:To get the previous owners information from the DVLA you need to fill in form V888 - more info in link below,

They made that into a short film ive seen it, the hitcher robs the beemer in the end when they build a fire! Spoilt it for you all now!!The Dahls must've liked bmws -ever seen that Southbank show documentary on him - he spends half of it driving about in an e28 which he must have bumped into something with by the looks of it.
