The power levels qouted reflect the size of the nitrous injector and thus how much nitrous can be added.
ie the 150bhp port is 3 times bigger than the 50bhp port, obviously it does also depend on the power your current setup is making but the power qoutes tend to be pretty accurate (unless your running a 1l micra!)
Nitrous is delivered immediatly upon application and thus places mega stress on the engine, if you start with a 50hp port you can always add a bigger one later, Imagine having a 50hp kick up the arse only this is happening to your engine!
Also check your insurance some companies don't mind, some won't touch you and others will let you run with all the plumbing for road use but won't cover you if a bottle is added, so for example they will let you run around on the road with it installed but only expect you to use it on track (where you won't be covered!)
