in a way do seem extortionate.. but in comparison to milk quite cheap you cant use milk as a fuel!

either way I just wanted to know if it was just me who doesnt mind fuelling their e30 up without cringing and will happily still give it some welly and still not mind?

Petrol is still cheaper than water.... Litre of water in London can cost around £2

I haven't seen many petrol stations selling at £2 a litre

petrol is outrageously expensive but if you own an e30 you just have to lump it and enjoy the drive. My only changes to my driving habits are that I have cut out unnecessary short journeys and I rarely miss an oppurtunity for engaging neutral.

I think its something stupid like 50-60% tax on fuel prices which is silly. But oh well, that is the U.K. Im not too bothered by fuel prices tbh. If you can afford it then dont drive so much.

That sounds closer to me, can somebody explain why the French have their road tax as part of the cost of the fuel they use and we still pay more than them per litre + Road tax in the UK?

no but if you consider that the dutch pay 55% tax on their wages and when they do overtime they dont get cash they get hours back to take at a later date things in the uk arent quite as bad as we think.

Silly Sods I see no such restrctions on the Yanks they have some very highly tuned cars that go really well......................in a straight line they still pay less than half of what we do per litre?

Because i have a few cars, i would really like to see the UK adopt the same system as France, ie no seperate road fund license (after all you are then paying for what you use), my oldest car is Feb'73 and i even have to tax that, i know it's my choice but when they first introduced the "classic car no road tax" it was any car over 25yrs, they then moved the goal posts and said "must be prior to Jan '73 to be exempt, and they haven't reveiwed it since B*stards

it doesnt really matter anymore what system they choose as if any changes are made you know it wont be to the benefit of the common man but more to do with how much more they can squeeze out of your wallet.

an old banger 'm' reg chavalier that cost me £150. my touring was costing me over £100 a week on fuel to get me to work . this costs me about £40. we used the chavalier as target practice with a nail gun on rapid fire. it now has about a dozen 'bullet holes' right along the passenger side. great fun the cossie touring is off road atm as i had started breaking it but could well be back next year with some big improvements. if only i wasnt so indecisive

road fund license indeed, what is the percentage of the 165 quid i have to pay at the end of this month that actually goes into repairing roads?? 7% i read somewhere!! only thing i hate paying for more than road tax is the bloody bulls**t that is the tv license!! hopefully when it all goes digital i can opt not to pay for the bbc to indulge in the rubbishy waffle they fill their channels with! apart from top gear that is! lol! but ill quite happily watch it on dave some time later when theyve paid the bbc again to allow them broadcast it again after us mugs have already paid for them to make it!!

at the end of the day you dont have a six cylinder bmw for economy especially an e30. they keep putting the price up. i dont give a toss because i see it as a challenge! they want to try and stop the e30 from being on the road! im lucky enough to earn a deicent wage so the money side of things dosent bother me.
