I'm interested in buying a DBilas cam from a company on German ebay, but as i'm still a total ebay virgin, i'm wary about what the procedure is.

1. The price advertised is 299 Euros, which is about Ԛ£206, but do i have to pay VAT on that too when importing it?

2. Can i just pay by paypal and they do all the currency conversion?

3. Anything else i should be wary of?

First of all mate i would email the seller with the questions. if he is a good seller he will reply back. Also check out their ebay shop if you can. if they have lots of goodies for sale they are probably genuine seller.

i am not sure about paying VAT. it should be on the price already. ask the seller about this. i ordered some stuff recently and did not pay anything on top. Email the seller asking for final price including shipping if the advert does not say so.

When you pay by paypal they do conversion for you. you have options to choose from which currency you want.

And read the sellers feedback. you can copy and paste it into online translator.

Hope that helps mate.

I too have used German Ebay for the purchase of my standard Bavaria Business C Stereo cassette - All in Ԛ£90. If the goods are second hand, then no VAT, if they are, then Germany has a VAT rate IIRC of 19% so when you get the goods you should be able to claim back 1.5% back because we only have 17.5% VAT.

As the others have said, if the seller has good feedback there should be no problem and I would contact them by email so that you have a reference point - I used a credit card, not paypal.

Good Luck and tell us how you got on.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've already emailed the seller and had a response - feedback looks spotless and they are rated as a power seller, though i'm not really sure what that means.

Just needed a bit of confidence that i aint throwing away my money. Cheers.

Cheers. The company i'm interested in is L&S Cartec - link here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 35379&rd=1

Seems like a few others on here have used them, so my confidence is growing.
