Sunroof Lubrication and Adjustment?

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how to adjust the sunroof? because mine is scratching the paint when i open it!
I also need to lubricate it, because the motor has a hard time opening it.

While im here. Where can i get a new sunroof welt? (rubber seal) mine's shot.

Stealer I think mate, but give EPC in the team valley a try first.

i think the seals are still available from bmw.

there are 6 torx screws holding the sunroof panel to the mech,
these are the ones to adjust to get to them you have to....
open sunroof back 6" and unclip the trim panel inside and slide it back
into the roof, you will see 3 torx each side use these for the adjustment.

if your sunroof is mega stiff take the sunroof lid off and pull out the cables
and clean them up and then re-grease them.

i found the runners on mine were all dirty and the cables sticky with old
grease... cleaned up and regreased all works no probs now

How do you take the sunroof out if it wont go back??? Mine will go up at an angle, and wont go back at all!!!!!!!!!!!

make sure its pushed down at the back whilst you press the button,
if that doesn`t help you`ll have to lever it open carefully whilst pressing the button

Wind it back with an allen key by hand once you've pushed the back down below the roof line.
Mine dosen't open once the sun's been on it for a while. Kind of defeats the point of it being on the car

Don't forget to slacken off the big hex nut around the allen key hole first, to disconnect the drive from the motor.
Work the allen key over and back, and at the same time put a bit off pressure on the roof with the other hand and add a bit of WD40, and eventually it'll come free.

I think it can be turned without loosening the nut, otherwise you have to pull the sun visors and the whole panel off first to get to the nut

Eh! you should be easily able to access the nut through the removeable inspection panel.

I seem to remember the nut being bigger than the hole.
I'll have to have a look later.

Spark plug socket fits nut, IIRC.

yeah use a tube spanner or thin socket just fits.

if its totally seized and the cables slip like i`ve had before, you`ll have to carefully lever it open
