iv put my head back together after the last 1 cracked, problem is there seems to be a pretty load grinding sound from the front of the engine somewhere. any ideas, is it possible the noise could be coming from the cambelt tensioner, as i hav losened it a few times never changed it, timing marks are all lined up properly 2
thanks

water pump (which is probably the reason your head cracked in the first place), while you change it change the cam belt and tensioner, NEVER use an old belt or tensioner, M20's are interfearence engines which means the pistons and valves will clash if the belt goes, that will ruin your day and your engine.

Could be water pump, but I'll go for a belt tensioner where the bearing shaft has come loose in the bracket, tilting the tensioner, and throwing the timing belt against the front cover. The noise is the belt grinding its way through the cover and being shredded in the process!
