What kind of difference did it make? I didnt think something so small would make much of a difference?

The back end feels a lot more solid now, goes aroung corners lovely. It's felt a bit loose for a long time. There was a about 4-5 mm play between the mount and the collar on the one shock!!Adammcf wrote:What kind of difference did it make? I didnt think something so small would make much of a difference?

Nice one Steve, easy job ain't it!
It can definitely make a huge difference if your old ones are worn, also a common source of rear end knocks!

Yeah, easy enough Si, first one took about an hour and a half, the other one less than an hour!! Doesn't help when you lose some of the nuts down between the wheel arch and seat belt mount pressings tho!!!

Haha, I did that too, also lost my 3/8 13mm socket, and extension bar down there!! I had to get them back out, I could hear them clunking about on the bends, so had to remove the entire boot interior to get them back!325SME wrote: Doesn't help when you lose some of the nuts down between the wheel arch and seat belt mount pressings tho!!!

I've just left them there for the moment, didn't have the time to strip it all out, and couldn't really be arsed either!!!! Did you have to take all the back seat gubbins out?Simon wrote:Haha, I did that too, also lost my 3/8 13mm socket, and extension bar down there!! I removed the sides where the speakers reside, and the part of the carpet where the load net loops are, I was replacing it all anyway with the newer stuff I had from Giles, it looks like a new car in there now!325SME wrote:

Can you not get it out with one of those magnetic probe things ?
I liked the improvement i had by doing my rear mounts, they wern't knocking but had a fair bit of play in them.

Next on the suspension to do list is to replace the front and rear drop links and anti-roll bar bushs.I'm hoping this will make the ride a little smoother ?

Nice one! I'll get round to fishing them nuts out sometime if I can be arsed!!Simon wrote:I removed the sides where the speakers reside, and the part of the carpet where the load net loops are, I was replacing it all anyway with the newer stuff I had from Giles, it looks like a new car in there now!325SME wrote:

Use an adjustable wrench to hold the damper rod, and a ring spanner to turn the nut, give the spanner a bit of a clout, it should be plain sailing then!Jhonno wrote:how did you get the top mounts off? i can never remove the nuts on top of the damper to get em off!!

Or if you got one handy clamp the damper rod in a vice after you've put the ring spanner on like I did, job done!!Simon wrote:Use an adjustable wrench to hold the damper rod, and a ring spanner to turn the nut, give the spanner a bit of a clout, it should be plain sailing then!Jhonno wrote:how did you get the top mounts off? i can never remove the nuts on top of the damper to get em off!!
Si, you know what to do don't you? You should were a long black curly wig when you're driving with the missus, not so easy to tell who's driving then if you get caught again.....

Excellent. Glad it went to some good use.I removed the sides where the speakers reside, and the part of the carpet where the load net loops are, I was replacing it all anyway with the newer stuff I had from Giles, it looks like a new car in there now
