i was going to suggest selling the 318is and buying a 325 but that might be seen as a bit cheeky.apart from the usual exhaust, chip etc the best horse per pound return is from turboing.the initial outlay is a large sum but the power increases gained and the relatively cheap and easy future power upgrades make it worth considering. now that ive went turbo i wouldnt consider anything less as the kick up the arse you get when the boost kicks in never fails to raise a smile. :D

Depends how much you want to spend and how much you're after.

I know very very little about tuning these cars so be interesting to see what the replies are.

My first thoughts would have been that it's on Motronic with an AFM - typically cars on this system benefit pretty significantly by moving over to individual throttle bodies and aftermarket ECU.

Have read before that the cams have high lift and short duration, again this would make sense as less overlap, less issue with the AFM flapping about causing driveability issues. With ITB you'd have none of this so cam choice is opened up.

No idea on standard rev limit, but it would again allow you to raise this to whatever you wanted (although with hydraulic tappets somewhere near 7.5k rpm is about the max you would go to).

As for the rest of it, who knows but looking forward to some replies.

I reckon,

lighter flywheel
Cams
Mega squirt
Throttle bodies

then it would be a wee flyer. For fun factor that is.lol

There was an e36 318is turbo in PBMW magazine that was getting 500bhp!!!! Thats serious power. Would hate to know the build cost an how much it blows up though.
