hello everyone, i am new here. i am from australia
i just found this website and it looks one of the best

here is my ride and my project

after spending lots of money on the 2.7i conversion, the engine stuffed. i havent even done 2000 ks on it.

so i decided not spend any more money on fixing it, and put the money in the m50 conversion.

for my bad luck, the previous owner didnt look after the car, they treated it like shit, and now i have to fix all this.

here is the pics ....

Looks like a sweet project mate. Is the colour original BMW? Not one i have seen before?

Also, i spy some fancy front top mounts, which ones are you using?

M50 is a much better option than the m20

Nice Tech 1 8)

Shame about the mess on the front panel, looks like it was done at the 'Stevie Wonder school of welding' :)

I would get that battery in the boot though

Thats why they do rust! Pending where you are, you either get humidity or dry heat with a wet heat later in the year.

By the looks of it, he's got VIC plates, so they get wet wet and more wet. Think UK climate, but in a wamer place.

Good luck on the conversion!! If you don't mind me asking, how much did the Kmac top mounts set you back? They're the fully adjustable ones right?

dan i think i u used the renualt clio servo and m/c in your conversion, right ????

i ve been searching and searching to see what u guys did with the brake servo problem, and i came up with this

1: golf mk2 servo ( not the best coz it doesnt feel like the e30 one )
2: hydraulic setup from e28/e32/e23 ( too complecated )
3: use the e30 servo and move it 2 or 3 inches
4: renualt clio servo ( sounds good if its direct fit )
5: e21 servo ( not the best coz it doesnt feel like the e30 one )
6: nissan skyline servo ( they say its direct fit and works better than the e30 one)

i work at wrecking yard, i have all the servos here, and i put all of them next to each other to compare them. the clio one have 2 ports only on the master cylinder.

dan the one u used had 4 ports right ?? and u had to block one ??

guys any suggestions ??

The clio M/C I used has 4 ports, I had to block 2 ports as I also fitted an ABS system at the same time, the brakes are good but I think the clio M/C bore is slightly smaller than the E30 M/C
The only reason I didnt use the E30 M/C is because the length of it may have interfered with the rubber elbow that connect to the throttle body.
I plan to upgrade to an M3 M/C at some point though

Never heard of the skyline servo :?

No, you have it back to front, you use an M50 manifold on an M52 and I doubt it would clear the servo anyway

I used the clio servo with the e30 M/C, works mint! Plenty of clearance and nice firm pedal, best e30 brakes ive used!!!

not much been happening, the paint job should be finsihed soon in the next 2 days. i ve been working on the steering link to fit the m3 rack. i also got the m50 out from the e34 and its ready to get some work done on it, it looks like it needs some gaskets and seals replaced.

should be fun, cant wait to start putting the car togather

Great stuff :D

What brake setup are you going for?

I am running a Mk2 Golf servo and E30 M/C and the brakes leave a lot to be desired

The M52 Manifold is suposed to be a better fit, but M50 is where the gains are :D
