I have a 320i cab and i would like to put a 2.5 in it. Would it be a straight forward engine swap or will i have to change anything ie exhust, wireing etc.

Assuming you get a 2.5 engine from the same year as your 320i, then it will be a pretty straight swap.

It's when you start putting late engines in early cars or visa versa that it can get a bit more involved.

Assuming the 2.5 is a similar vintage, then you should be able to use your existing wiring and ECU. You would really need to fit a 2.5 chip in it though. I'm not 100% on the exhaust. I'm sure it will physically fit, but if the pipe is smaller, then it will limit the power slightly.

Cheers,

Ian.

I "think" it should be late. I used a cab loom for my late 2.5 conversion from a 1990 and it was the later 3 row ECU type. Pre face lift cars (metal bumper) use a 2 row ECU. Not sure what year they did the facelift on the cabs.
