I picked up a 318i on a D plate about a month ago,its only done 58k and is as original as the day it was bought including the fact that its never had a sterio installed.
It has the hole in the dash and front speaker holes but has never had any wiring etc...
I need some help with where the wires go...this is what JVC told me....
BLACK - ground to chassis or body.....OK
YELLOW - to a live terminal in fuse box to car battery (by passing ignition)....HELP!
RED - to accesory terminal in fuse box..MORE HELP
BLUE - to remote lead of aerial.....DONT HAVE AERIAL so dont worry.
BROWN - phone......again dont worry.
The main HELP I need is with the YELLOW an RED,the rest and speakers I can sort.
Any help in explaining which fuses terminals to use would be great
Thanks TOM.
1986 has never had radio installed...EVER.

Shouldn't the wiring atleast be in place even if there's never been a stereo fitted? Like the wiring for fog lights is there on cars that weren't supplied with fogs?
Sorry can't help with original wiring locations (for the wires) as i've never had to wire one in from scratch.

Use the plug on the left of this picture with the brown wire and two red wires.

Yellow is a fused permanent live(to keep all the settings stored when ignition swithched off)
Red is the ignition feed( only sees power when the ignition is switched on)
Yellow could be taken from any permanent live source

Hi Try ECP for the wring loom shown in smithy318i's post.Your radio wiring should then plug into that.

Yeah, smithys pic shows the accessories socket/panel which is behind the panel at the top of the glovebox.
All the stereo power leads can connect into there, but i struggled to get any 'cos no one seemed to know what i was talking about!!!
Best thing is to find someone local who's scrapping an E30 and will let you go and take whatever wires, etc out!! That's how i got my bits in the end!!!
