There's a couple of those in a similar state that have been parked up for years in my town, one a 3.0 the other a 3.3Li.

Cool styling, though they certainly know how to rot
Any idea which E number model they are?

Looks cleaner than some R5's i've seen. Thought you'd have been straight in there Jesus!Jesus325iTouring wrote:Seem to me to be the unloved BM's,I rather like them TBH
I've always loved these E3's. These were a bit of a gansters car in the late 70's along with the big Merc 450's. They also made quite a few appearances in shows like the Sweeney etc. with either a Granada Mk1 3.0 Ghia or a 2.8iS getting all out of shape behind.
Love the tool kit complete with spare HT cap, plugs and bulbs. Worth something on it's own I would think?

lovely car when right fast and way cool but you'd have to be bonkers to bother with restoring this.

That is far too rotten to restore. The trouble is, even a really good one won't break £2000. £200 for that? He's on drugs- apart from the toolkit (worth £40) I don't see anything of use on that thing. All the panels are scrap, it's not been on the road for 18 years so the running gear will all be seized/rusted/shagged, no useable exhaust or tyres. It's just rubbish that wants picking of a few bits and then crushing.
If it were 5 miles away I might give £20-30 for it.

As mentioned, bit of P40,MOT from the "man down the pub",job done
Oh and B7,it is in better nick than most R5's hence why mine is hybrid of 3 or 4 different ones, when I need a part I don't have I just go and buy a shitter, get the parts I want and scrap the rest.
The R5 isn't the best made car made at the best of times,a rotten one is truely frightening!

You are not wrong. I used to car share with a old guy who had a Mk1 R5 (GTL I think) that was the biggest sh!tter I've ever seen. It was gold (of about 20 different shades) and his son in law used to "get it through" its test every year. I'm not easily scared but f*ck me this was a dog.Jesus325iTouring wrote: The R5 isn't the best made car made at the best of times,a rotten one is truely frightening!
I am however easily embarrased hence I soon ended the car share arrangment, figuring twice the fuel in my 3.0i CD senator was a small price to pay for my life.

M C Elder & son sold a minter with under 80k on it for £2500. Which means the owner got about £1500 tops. Still a good looking car.
