The 325i throttle body's a good mod on a '20. You have to relieve the manifold though and some Guys say there'e not enough metal left when you finish.
I have thought about the possibility of using the '25 manifold and injectors when I get 'round to doing the mod on my '20.
I've been advised that it's a no-go, but I'd like to try all the same (forever experimenting!). Obviously going this route (assuming it does work) would make a custom mapped chip a necessity.
Oh! ....and if you put your '25 lump in, don't forget you'll need the ECU to go with it (sorry if you'd already got that base covered!)

Chuck the whole 325 in. I know there's one or two odd people around who like 320's, but it really is a pointless engine. The only thing it does as well as a 325 is drink fuel.

It's true I'm afraid! :jester:

Never said they were better than a 2.5, but they ain't as bad as everyone makes out...
They're smoother, sound better, & mine was more economical (thanks largely to the diff in the early ones I expect). If you put a 2.5 TB etc onto a late 2.0 then you can get good gains for not much money & the insurance is less, as well as the fact that nice 320s are often way cheaper than a similar 325...

But at the end of the day, the power's what counts to most people; there really is a big difference... & it's pretty obvious which I prefer, from which I now drive!

Insurance is only one group down on the 320 from the 325, according to my list, so no great difference there. If your insurance co knows about a 325 throttle body on a 320, they'll probably classify it as modded, and charge you more than for a 325.

i had my 320i insured under a group 12 rating....325i's with the same company were group 16 i believe.

not sure what company rated 320i's 1 group lower, but if they were above 12 they were overrated (a lot had group 12 as their rating)

I think we ought to start a 320i Massive for those of us who are happy with our '20's.
It would be nice if the members would get away from the "my car's better than yours" mentality. At the end of the day, we all come on the E30 Zone because we love our E30 (or E30's in some cases).
E30ness rules, it doesn't matter if the engine's putting out 100bhp or 200+, as long as it's an E30 that's all that matters. Same applies to the chrome/face-lift debate.

My list shows 320i saloons as group 14, and 325i saloons as group 15.
