Hi folks,

I changed my electric sunroof last week as my old one was rusting away. However I discovered that more than the sunroof was rusty :roll:

In the pictures below you can see what I mean

I don't even know what the name of that metal runner is - it's supposed to be attached to the interior trim of the sunroof, but mine is totally rusted beyond repair at the connection points .

So does anyone know what the correct name for this part is and the part number too if possible - I want to get a new one from BMW, shouldn't be too expensive (famous last words....)

shit thats rusted bad,

the 325 i broke had a no rust in that area but i sent it to be crunched 2 weeks ago, sorry mate

Hi Ciara,

That part is known as the water channel. It's designed to catch any water that runs off the rear of the sunroof, and channels it to either side of the car where it can exit via the sunroof drain tubes. It's clipped to the interior trim piece by those long thin arms.

The water channel is BMW part 54 12 1 837 094 - approx Ԛ£13 from the dealer.
