what would need to be done to fit a e36 m40 in place of the m40 in my e30?

is it just a case of swapping the sumps and pickup pipes?
1989 BMW 318i (2.5 24v conversion in progress)
1993 Vauxhall Cavalier 4x4 Turbo

I thought it was the M42 in the E36?
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap :)

thats the later ones isnt it? i thought the early ones were the belt driven m40?

what about the e34 518i engine?

you need to change the sump and pickup pipe plus you need to change the inlet manifold and throtle body form the e30 engine onto the e36 engine
