hello all. im just in the middle of a m30 swap ive removed both engines a boxes. the 1 thing puzzleing me is the loom on the m30 doesnt look quite long enough? just wonderd if anybody has the answer/ thanks karl :o:

If its an e34 M30 then the loom will be just about long enough if you rotate the ecu 180 degrees and bolt it in in usual place that way.

intresting fact for you i put an m30 alpina engine in my e30 coupe and used the original m20 wiring loom, the m30 ecu plugs straight in and off you go! saves the minor wiring mods

so a 325 wiring loom should plug straight in a work fine? :mad:

As Spadge said - it's a tight fit with the m30 loom but it does work! :)

Did you manage to post that mani in the end? No sign of it here :(
E30 in need of wiring loom smoke since April '11...

yeh it was posted last tuesday. il try chase it up mate. so a 325 loom is no better than the535 loom? :mad:

Strange... hopefully it'll arrive eventually! :) Cheers.

The 325i loom will indeed be longer for the ECU connection, but I don't know the ins & outs of that swap - just that the wiring's easy & well documented with the M30 loom!

jaffro, apart from the sticky at the top of this forum and the fact that the ecu has to be turned round, none as far as im aware.

a bit of a thick question but which way round does the clutch plate go in. cant remember when i took it off :o:

Should be something on the plate itself to tell you, was in German on mine , still managed to put it on wrong :)

cant c anything on it. theres a big collet on 1 side and a small 1 on the other i presume the big 1 goes into flywheel but not sure. aghhhhh :x
