Agree. But that is only "upwards" (if that makes some sense).
As higher your spring rates becomes, as less bump travel is available, the spring will need to be shorter to get the ride height down to the same point
as before (or even less) and the shock is compressed more.
Usually a drop spacer is added to limit the travel of the shock (to stop the spring from falling out of the top hat) or a helper spring is added which get's coil bound once the car is sitting on it's own weight.
Even with off the shelf lowering springs the available bump travel is reduced quite a bit. I was quite surprised when I took the wheel off and supported the whishbone with some timber blocks (to simulate a wheel)
to see by how much the shock get's compressed onec the car sit's on his own weight. Makes me wonder how people achieve more than 60mm lowering without loosing any sort sensible suspsion travel left.
car suspension is a very complex subject and I am by no means an expert. but I have spoken to a lot of people and try to puzzle my limited knowledge together to something usuable without breaking the bank account.
If not too far apart in the country I could imagine to meet up to some sort of brainstorming. Everybody is invited to bring parts/cars along and we can share our findings. I do not mean to disturb any business with this, I am still happy to buy stuff from someone else if it does the job and is prices competitive.
