Here's my car

E30 325i '92'

Image

The side skirts came with the car,and have only just bought it so havent had time to adjust anything yet, hers the deal :)

I want either a better front bumper, bigger so m-tech i guess, and with that a rear bumper too so basically from the side the car will be the same height to match the side skirts..

Im new to the whole E30 scene so dont really know too much about M-tech body kits etc etc.

i havent got tons of money to throw at it so cheapest option would be good,if i have to lose the side skirts to make way fro acomplete better looking kit, then i will.

i think im right in saying if i went for the whole package including door panels, then i would have to lose them anyway as the door panels profile will not fit with these skirts i have now...

any ideas would be great

many thks

That'd include the side skirts....you'll have to take the ones you've got at the mo off....though it doesn't matter as they're not too nice anyway!

If you look out for a cheap kit I'm sure one'll come up....just avoid the replica kits and you'll be fine :thumb:

If i went for the M-tech 1 or 2 kit..would it fit on to the car without too much trouble?..i guessing not.but then im told the door panels (if i went for tech2) would fit into my existing holes i have which houses my GO FAST black stock stripe thing :)

Im anxious to get my car looking sweet for the summer,i didnt pay alot for her so i can spend a bit BUT am new to the whole thing..

I dont know wether to go mtech1 (think i dont get the door panels with that?)... or go m-tech2 ...or just go for something else like Andy-Magic suggested..

Either way i dont want a boot spolier..just front,rear,sides

I know peeps are selling on her and il keep a look out BUT anyone got any shops, sites that i can try...

if you have a post facelift car (plastic bumpers) the tech 1 kit will not fit. Also the sideskirts will need a bit of modifying to fit a cab as they are shorter.
i would go tech 2 mate. the bumpers fit on perfect, the door pods go on fine, but a little modifying to the side skirts is needed. its not major though. unless you get hold of the skirts for a cab.

the skirts that you have look very like av3 to me. check out autovogue and take a look at their grey cab - it shows quite nicely how yours would look if you finished the kit and went for their front and rear. they are not the cheapest kit but it's extremely well made. my missus has driven into the back of mine twice and you'd never know - not like fibreglass flappy bits that some people knock out. (mine is av3 front and rear, m-tech 1 sides)

i see you're in pompey - so if you want to see mine pm me and we can have a mini meet. i'm sure you'll understand that i don't want to give out my address on the net.

Yea thks Paul...

just looked at site...to get a front bumper and rear to match my already side skirts would cost me 350 without delivery and paint..

For the MC rally version for 60 quid more it would be delivered and i would get door panels too..but obviously not so strong..

im a bit stuck on the decision TBH

cheers mate.

end of the day its up to you mate. what your happy with. no need to make others happy just go with what you prefer, but really pay big attention to quality. with a original tech 2 kit you will know it will fit perfectly and will look good. with the fibreglass kits it can take alot of work to look right if the qulity is no good.

if you like the side skirts you have you can use them with the tech 2 door pods. looks quite good IMO.

Sup Nav..

TBH guys im thinking of steering away from the fibreglass mock kits...just hear bad things and 450 is alot of money to get something which will crack once the cat pisses on it.. :D

The more i think about it,if i cant get a decent second hand tech2 kit,i might just add to what ive got allready and put my sides to good use..im starting to like the kit Placey suggested:

http://www.autovogue-commerce.co.uk/zoo ... ductID=800

this would only cost me around 350,be of a much better quality and i could add door pods later if desired..sure it would look ok..

cheers

I reckon the skirts only look bad because there's nothing on the front... why don't you try just adding a tech-2 front & rear, & keeping those skirts? If you don't like, just add the sides at a later date...

I'm sure It'll be a good lookin car tho whatever you do tho  Oh, & some rear headrests'd look good too...

Yea..well im in the process od MAYBE getting a whole m-tech2 second hand kit so il probably put it all on bar the boot spolier.

If that doesnt go through then il be getting the AV Front & Rear Bumpers to match my already exisiting Side-skirts..*link above*

As for the headrests, well i could probably get hold of a pair but its the Dark-Blue leather trim that wont be so easy to find, less of course they get re-trimmed but would probably stand out too much then..

useful contacts round our way include:

e-tech motorsport, havant, 02392 478300. specialise in e30s and always have breakers and a large stock of bits, often including kits.

seatsgalore(.co.uk) in swanmore - speak with gary for top triming results.

there's also a partnership in aston road, waterlooville that speacialise in bms - can't remember the name but they're pretty good but don't hold the second hand stock like e-tech, they just do the servicing/repair work.

thks for the photos m8..

yea,im not going for the Reps,i needed to know first what they were like before i forked out for em,and that info i got,and most of it was negative on those fibreglass kits.

Its either a Secondhand M-tech2 kit OR AutoVogue front & Rear to match my sides

Then maybe a spoonfull of door pods later to give it that sweet taste..

Who knows..

Sup Guys..

Managed to get hold of a gen FULL M-tech2 kit..

So my question is maybe a simple one but any Tips on what to do first, problems i might come across...im putting the whole kit on bar the boot spolier i think..

Door pods...do my original stock black trims slide off or do i have to take door cards off etc to un-screw nuts..

Advice is Appreciated

the door rubbing strips come off by undoing the black nut inside the doorjust below the locking mechanism and pulling at the rest of it (carefully!) - no need for door card removal.

as for the kit however i believe you have to line it all up and drill holes - so care and rust-prevention tactics are required.

haven't fitted the m-tech 2 but i can't see how you'll do it without the door cards off - someone will know better than me for sure.

Im sure the kit will line up without to much trouble..at least thats what i thought...

Is any Mastic or equivalent bonding material used for the sides and pods..just curious as ive never fitted a kit before, ive managed to dodge that sentance and have em already fitted.. :)

K,from my sig you can see my side skirts which were there when
i bought it...there is a Gel based skin behind one of the skirts...is this the norm with body kits?

would you use some kind of adhesive as ive never fitted one before, and if so whats the stuff to get

there's no reason why you can't bond kits to a car - but if you can screw them they are removable for cleaning/anti-rust measures.

if in any doubt speak with justion at e-tech - he's fitted loads of m-tech kits.

Can anyone point me too a site which can give me info on fitting this kit..or for any advice that might be handy to know prior to fitting...

I wanna know whats missing, what i need etc in the way of fixings etc etc..

I got lil white clips which go on the back of the door pods,i need about 10 i think, ive got 2..OEM doesnt really show them clearly if at all!

are they the same as what ive got there allready on the back of my black stock trim as in my SIG below...?

mate you dont need to drill holes for doorpods. you will have to drill holes for the sidekirts tho. the white clips you have for the door pods just push into existing holes (where black trim sat, just as the trim pushes in so do the doorpods.) you will need to take off your front and rear wheels as you need to drill holes to screw in the sides of the door pods into the arches. you only need to do this for the two small pods not the door one. the door one has clips at the bottom of it which holds it againts the door aswell as the white ones at the top.

you will have to fit the ntech sideskirts you can buy a template from the stealers for drilling holes. or you can make your own template using masking tape.

hope thet helps
