Anyone used RollCentre cages?

Just weighing up my options for my rollcage. RollCentre and Custom Cages seem to be the two best options. I've seen a few of CC's cages but never dealt with RollCentre, so was wondering if anyone else here has.
Never heard of Rollcentre, and a Custom Cages cage was a bit pricy. I think I'll be going for a Wiechers cage - http://www.wiechers-sport.de/

Unfortunately I dont have that sort of budget. The wiechers seems to be the best value cage for the money in its price range, compared to the safety devices and omp offerings.agent006 wrote:Not sure yet. Probably looking at around £2k fitted.

did a mates Jetta cage thats on the site & its a fab job & although its a tiny job in comparison they did my harness bar in my golf & the welding was outstanding.

Cheers for that, will check them out. I think what i'll end up doing is taking a day off an doing a big loop of Robinson's, Custom Cages, and Rollcentre to have a look and a chat with all of them.

I had a Rollcentre cage in my 205 race car. Was FISA and MSA approved. It also did the job when I hit the pitwall at Silverstone at about 80mph.
However, Rollcentre were awful to deal with. Calls back were slow and they made me pay well over market rate for missing hi-ten bolts that weren't supplied.
If you're after a cage now why not wait a month and go to the Autosport International Show in Jan at the NEC? All the big players are there and you can see the companies and their work first hand. (You'll also see what a grumpy bunch of people run Rollcentre
).

I've only had second-hand reports, but both have bumped the quoted price up for similar 'reasons'.

It has to be FIA as i don't want to be prevented from doing european hillclimb events at some point in the future because i haven't got an FIA cage. The price difference between FIA and non-FIA is trivial compared ot the installation costs anyway.
I can't buy an off the shelf item as i want some extra design done on areas where i feel the standard cages are inadequate. Safety devices are out as i want it UK made. Hence coming to the decision between RollCentre and CC (and Alex's suggestion from this thread).

And the cost if they fit a cage -- if they make additions you need to be sure they fit in the regs of the Blue book...companies like Safetydevices and OMP have spent fortunes developing cages and working with the FIA and MSA
Safetydevices for example developed the first E30 multipoint cages with Prodrive and those cages were made in the UK...OMP make several FIA cages even there basic 6 point FE45 is FIA and the CrMo 10 point is as good a cage as you will get for the E30 and a fraction of the CC price after fitting...and then with a bolt in cage you can save money with doing some of the work

All i'll say is get yourself along to some races and have a look at cages fitted by both Rollcentre and CC. Check the welds out, CC dosen't weld all the way round the tubes on top of the cage!!
I know one of the Kumho cars that had a crash this season ended up with the door bar through the gearbox tunnel, that was a CC cage.

i have a 6 point bolt in cage from saftey devices with harness bars cross over in the rear cross over door bars roof support etc
i like it for 1 track day a month it does m as i was never gonna be able to afford a custom cage and for a 318is i think its all i need i love the oversized tubing and the poder coated finish

agreen - your cage is proven in accidents and drivers have walked away...if they cage is not proven to be damaged it can be removed and reused...it comes powder coated with all fitting etc...it is fully welded all the way round and is VERY strong in the correct places...I have know works cages that have been knocked back at scruitineering for welds not being all the way round and unless welded properly by a coded welder you can NEVER guarentee the welds....people who dont know what they are talking about should not try and scare people regards cages....a badly welded multipoint cage is more dangerous than no cage at all

Can I recommend you give Oli Barnard a call: http://www.preptech.co.uk
He does my prepping/welding work for me (it's my car at the top of his webpage). He can supply and fit and isn't bound to any particular manufacturer. He works with BTCC and Formula teams daily. Also if you do decide to give SD another chance you can source through Oli and miss out any obstructions that believe they have exclusivity. Having said that he'll probably recommend a better alternative. Tell him I sent you.

Automac for example can supply Custom cages, OMP, Sparco and Safety Devices...so you always have options but to reitterate it about being fit for purpose...BUT regards cages watch this space if the MSA have their way and you could have problem if you then fit the cage (especially weld in cages) your self....good luck...see you in the paddock
