bleeding clutch

me and a friend are trying to bleed his clutch on his b reg 323.
but how do u do it weve tryed the normal way and taken things out and apart to see if there cloged but no joy,

does it take a log time or i there something that we dont know ,
there must be air in the whole system too , its got me

I bought a one man bleed kit, that attaches to your tyre for pressure, thats a godsend, get one!!!

I was bleeding clutch yesterday and couldn't do it, until I bout the kit!

when i bled the clutch on my 335 the last time it almost bled itself - i.e. open the bleed valve and let the fluid run out on its own for a bit without pumping, the shut the valve. mine was driveable but not perfect like that.

sounds like u got a problem with the master or slave cylinder?

You can sometimes get a slug of air trapped in the slave cylinder.

I have had to remove the cylinder from the bellhousing and push the rod inwards to force the air out (leave the hydraulics connected).

we put a second hand master cly on that worked and a different slave on too. but the fluid level doesnt drop in the resivour. but the line from resivour to the master is free flowing .
but u recon its just full of air
can it be syuborn to get rid of

E30 clutches can be right ba***rds to bleed.
If all else fails, you can bleed it backwards by connecting a pipe between the front left brake caliper and the clutch slave, opening both nipples and proceding as if you were bleeding the brakes.
Be carefull not to introduce any muck into the system, and unless the fluid in the brakes is brand new, once you've got the clutch working, bleed it through again with new fluid in the conventional way.

A trick I use (mainly on bike brakes) is this:

Get a long piece of clear tubing that fit's snugly on the thing your bleeding, crack the bleed nipple (maybe even pull it out and clean it out) then make sure the resovoir (sp) is full and suck on the end of the clear tubing, keep an eye on the following:

Fluid level in resoviour

Fluid level in clear tubing

Anyone watching as your going to look really stupid.

Once you have fluid coming up the tube, bleed in the normal way.

it was crud in the nipple . friend found out wat brake fluid tastes like trying to get resiviour empty lol
