I've started an e36 rack conversion on my coupe, the racks in place with the spacers and modified steering joint but what about the pipe work?
To anyone who's done this conversion (or not I suppose!) what did you use? rigid steel/alloy/copper pipe, braided flexi or a combination? should I retain the banjo fittings or use AN fittings (plenty knockin about).
When I bought the rack it didn't come with the pipework but I've heard it doesn't fit anyway. Any ideas, possibily with photos would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Sorry, don't have any photos and it's a bit dark and wet to get any right now!
I used the standard M20 325i pipes.
I had to carefully re-shape them slightly and re-route them.
They were a bit fiddly and took a couple of hours walking back and forth from car to bench vice to get them right.
If you're using pipes from a four cylinder car they won't be long enough.

Cheers mate, I'll look out for some pipes then, mine was a four cylinder so they're no good.

If you are going to have to buy some anyway, then I'd go for the easy option and get some made up.
It will save a lot of time and can be made up by engineering companies at reasonable prices, worth asking around!

I bought a set of conversion pipes off ian332isport on here a couple of years back. Not fitted them yet but he may well have some left, or the original designs.

I'm assuming they were formed steel pipes like the originals, I've been trying to get some aluminium pipe from work, it forms really easy but it's expensive. I'll try one of the local hydraulics firms.
