Shall I detail my car today?

Don't know whether to fully do my car today,

as tomorow or the day after it will be going to my dads shed to get my side skirts etc put on. The shed is quite dusty and the car will gather a layer of it.

If I clay, wash, polish, seal and wax my car today, will the dust just rinse off tomorow?

Its just the weather is great today.

once its all done the dust should all rinse off

Once it's fully done, it's a lot easier to keep that way. ie a quick rinse gets rid of overnight dust etc...

i was joking mate, is rather satisfying isnt it,

when i last detailed mine properly it took me 3 full days, as in i had all the interior out to clean it aswell,

I still haven't done my interior, but its pretty tidy so I don't think il bother for the moment.

What products do you use?

Autoglym Shampoo/Conditioner
Sonus Clay Bar+Lubricant
Autoglym BumperCare/Vinyl Cleaner
Autoglym Resin Polish
PoorGuys EX Sealant
PoorGuys Blue Carnuba Paste Wax

you really wanna know?
-rinsed over with pressure washer, sucking a dilution of wax stripper and megs gold class,
-allowed to dwel for 5 mins,
-jet washed off again,
-snow foamed the car with a mixture of chemical guys maxi suds, and super snow foam with hot water,-
allowed to dwell for 5 mins,
-2 bucket method the car with hot water, using chemical guys maxi suds in the 1st bucket,
- dried using a microfibre drying towel and a leaf blower,
-wonder wheels to clean my wheels,
- meguairs clay bar kit using gold class as the lube mixed 10-1 with distilled water
- porter cable the whole car using menzena 3.02 to d-swirl it completely, well as best i could
- zaino z2 applied with the porter cable
-zaino z5pro left for an hour applied with the porter cable
-then zaino z8 detailing spray
-next day applied another coat of zaino z5 pro applied with the porter cable
-then zaino z8 again,
-meguiars glass cleaner,
-auto glym bumper care on all plastics,
-meguair tyre shine
-chemical guys jet seal on all the wheels,
-all so took all the wheels of and cleaned inside the arches and struts,
-painted calipers and the parts of the discs that allways just around the hub in black hammerite,

-interior i hired a wet and dry vacumm,

Well I suppose if you want to do it properly you might aswell do it well, proper car care my friend.

depends,

personally i would bin the auto gylm polish and replace it with something like this

but its hard to recomend as i dont know how good your paint is or how confident you are in your technique etc,

im not saying that i am a pro but i am confident in my ability if that makes sense, hence the fact i quite happily helped a friend de-swirl his Hanman Ferrari 360 at the weekend along with sealing it with chemical guys jet seal, which i would highly recomend aswel.

Right, Il use up what I have left from what I have and that will be on my wishlist.

Btw my Dad was really impressed with my job on my car that he says he will pay me to do an 325se as hes selling it for someone.

depends,

i do my dads car for him just so i can get the experience, ive charged someone else i used to work for just shy of £100 for a full day of work, i also do quote a few mini valets for people i live near and friends etc and charge anything from £25 to £50 depending.

Do you know how easy it would be to gradually start a small business out of detailing?

Its just here in Jersey I don't think anyone really does it.

Plus their are alot of nice cars in the island and am sure their would be loads of customers.

its not hard to start the buisness, buts its getting the custom, put it this way, i wouldnt let you touch my car without seeing alot of previous work i.e pictures etc,

i thought about it and thought hard about it, when i worked out roughly what i would need to live on minus expensses you would be looking at almosr £25 roughly an hour, and if your gonna spend 10 hours cleaning a car properly thats £250, you need to turn cars day in day out to make a living,
