Do people re-engine E28s and E12s

Not sure it would be worth it with 535is making 218bhp but I just wondered. Spose it would be easier just to find an M5

people put M60 V8s and M70 V12s in sometimes, i'd imagine the extra torque makes for a nice car.
as far as i know it's usually a good bit easier than putting big engines in E30s, because the 5 is closer in design to the 7 which naturally got the largest engines when new

I was thinking the extra space would make it easier to fit a bigger engine and I like the idea of a hot rod but I like straight sixes. I suppose the 3.6 / 3.8 M5 engine would be best bet.

the older v8's don't have ecu's to worry about so less wiring
