Have always had saloons and after the last one gave in to the dreaded tin worm :violin: I set about looking for a replacement.

The thought of having a Touring had never really occured to me, but I spotted this one tucked away in the cars for sale section on the Westfield Sports Car Club (my other too expensive passion :))

The ad was pretty basic with no pictures and at £1500 I thought was pretty strong money. Anyways, contacted the fella and went for a look.

Certainly got a surprise, the car had started out as the main family car but gradually got used for trackdays. It had been kept in a heated garage and certainly had some money spent on it, there is a receipt for £2350 just for the brakes

It has: a brand new cylinder head from BMW  which has been ported and the valve seats given 3 angles, fast road Kent cam, fuel pressure regulator, Magnex stainless 6 branch to full stainless one off twin box rear exit exhaust (the rear valance has been properly modified and the heat shield etc has all been done also) the front brakes are AP racing 6 pot calipers with 330mm by 35mm discs, they were made by Techcraft to fit inside 17" wheels, 2 piece BBS alloys, top adjustable suspension, Eibach adjustable anti roll bars front and rear, polybushed front suspension, short shift kit, LSD, new from BMW M-tech front bumper and valance, genuine smoked Hellas, alloy strut brace, it still has the alloy wishbones as well  The bodywork is also excellent.

The seller had stripped out the dashboard, seats, electrics and the engine ancillaries in order to fit a mental Rover V8 but got no further than that. The only thing missing was the windscreen, everything else was packed into boxes and stored in the car.

Needless to say I thought Christmas had come early for that price and snapped his hand off. Have now got it home and putting it back together, the suspension deffo needs a drop though :) Apologies for the essay  , thanks for reading,

Rich

WHAT! You are building a V12?!!!! Why not take the AP calipers and use them on that. I think u just got yourself a great donor car mate and with all the parts you will swap you will have a tasty runaround too :)

Onz, you are spot on mate. The brakes will end up on the project car eventually, even if the Touring becomes more standard over time it should still be a good motor. 8)
