You should have this in Tech help. :)

Is it more of a CLACK than a clunk? If so could be your pads, what brand are you using and are they the correct ones for your car? May look like they fit properly but might be just MM out. Or it could be worn caliper holders, they do wear and become miss shapen which results in the pads and caliper moving resulting in a CLACK noise.

Is this the first time you have had the discs and pads done in your ownership?

Who did the discs and pads for you? Was it a BMW specialist using OEM parts or did you do it yourself?

I will ask you again what brand of pads did you use? Not all pads are born (manufactured) equal!

This is a process of elimination, so it best to get the pads questions out of the way first as the caliper holders are an expensive item.

Don't believe anything a garage tells you unless you know them well and trust them implicitly.

If you do, then it will most likely be your front caliper holders. The wear would be so minimal that they just didn't spot it. Its probably just MM out. I would also recommend replacing the current pads (despite being new USE OEM for trouble free driving.) as they will probably become damaged and worn from shifting in the the caliper holders. Imagine the forces being excerted on your pads under breaking from the weight of your car.

What are they last 7 digits of your VIN should look like AB12345. That way I can tell you the part numbers you require.

http://bmwfans.info/original/

This is the BMW parts catalogue on the web. It is nearly the same as they have in the dealership but less current the prices and info updates. Combining this online tool with the last 7 digits of your VIN will show you every part fitted to your car, broken down as a numbered diagramatic view and the part numbers.

Is this your first BMW? Do you have a good resource for getting parts?

I can reccommend excellent resources for purchasing original OEM parts mostly at BMW's COST PRICE to the dealerships. I buy all my own parts and for things I can not do myself use an excellent local garage who just charge me a very good low labour rate.

Where abouts are you located? Someone on here will be able to reccommend a good local specialist.

This website and the people on it are an amazing resource and IMO the best car related forum on the web. :D
