I fitted a single 45DCOE to my MGB GT in place of the twin SUs. It wasn't at all impressive at low throttle inputs, feeling flat until you floored it (made a nice noise at least!). I wouldn't recommend them for a daily driver tbh.

Try PMing E21jason
He's got a set of sidedraught webers on his 2.7 E21 using a griffin manifold

Rally design still list a manifold for the M20 if that's what you plan fitting them to

Carbs are for the 70´s and should stay there.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

Too right, carbs are to fuel injection what one of these:

Image is to the pocket calculator.

The difference being that the mechanical calculator is sophisticated, accurate and mechanical. The carb is complicated, inaccurate and mechanical.

Ahh, Weber DCOE's. I have seen these fitted to a few BMW's and they do actually work well.

They have to be calibrated and ballanced correctly, or all sorts of running problems occur. Also they need to be mounted correctly too. Not solid mounted as I see so often. They don't like it. They need some flex in the mounts to absorb engine vibration. This prevents or cuts down froffing of the fuel in the reservoirs... another known cause of running faults.

These cars have many, many adjustment... not just turning the idle mixture screws, but all the jets are interchangeable. The venturi chokes sizes need carefull consideration, emution tube selection, main jets, air correctors, pump jets, idle jets, length of intake trumpets, type of air filter and depth, all make a big difference to how the engine runs. Once all is correct, you will be in heaven

What I do advise though is, unless you buy VERY GOOD second hand carbs which are not old, always buy brand new carbs. This may seem expensive, but is cheaper in the long run, especially if you have to change all the chokes (can be £10-£15 each) on a 6 cylinder.... thats £60-£90 gone straight away.

The other thing to consider is what ignition system you are going to run? If you are going to run with the standard ECU, you won't have the best timing as the ecu can't see load.

The fuel pump will need to be disconnected and replaced for a facit pump so the pressure won't be 5bar from the old injection pump, but all you need is 4-7psi fuel pressure.

A few more things to consider aswell, but those are the main things.
E30 M3 Unichip Alpha N style conversions, this is the ultimate for extracting the best out of your S14 M power car.

An alternative would be 6 Suzuki Gsxr 600 throttle bodies and standalone management

Throttle bodies can be had for £80 a set of 4 from Ebay (£160)
Manifold (£250) from Altiss
ECU New MS kit from the states $200 ish IIRC + shipping

Carbs will probably set you back about £300
Manifold £350
Linkage ???
Air filters £100 +
Low pressure fuel pump

Image
These (although not finished yet) look and perform just as well/better and the standalone management system will be already in place for future modifications/upgrades

yeah, throttle bodies or bike carbs mate. Leave the old webber technology for the flat caps and frenchies. I saw a 2.7 running gsx bodies and standalone it was truly awsome. The guy said that he could spin the wheels easily with 18's on the rear!

slightly off topic but whipsy, can you get a 5 series sideways very easily? or does it need much more speed than the E30's?

Quite easy to get an E34 535i with manual 'box sideways; mine doesn't have an LSD! 8O

I did it accidentally this week, after I had to swiftly overtake a Fiesta driver who suddenly pulled over to the kerb, with a corner coming up and a sodding great bus hurtling around it, it was wet and I had to floor it towards the corner to miss the bus.
