A friend of mine had the same DIY idea as you. He bought some film an "tried" to do it himself and made a complete pigs ear of it. He then went to the professionals who did it properly.

Right, The thing is in Jersey im not sure any places would fit the tint as a service so unless I can find someone il have to give it a go myself.

Anyone done it themselves?

Any advice would be great.

i fitted some on my last project, a toyota celica, and as the e30 windows are much flatter than that cars you should manage a decent job if you take your time and read the instuctions fully before you start.the rear window might need done in 2 or 3 horizontal strips if its to curved. im sure its illegal to do the front side windows on the drivers and passengers doors nowadays so you could get pulled for that.
dont go to dark as you will struggle to see cyclists etc when pulling out from junctions at night

Cheers guys,

Did some googling and found a website with someone advertising it in Jersey, which is great.

I just hope they don't charge loads cos theyre the only ppl who do it,

What should I expect to pay for them to tint the car with film?

Probably want all windows done minus the widscreen, with the rear and side-back windows darker than the front.

Sweet, I have found a professional who can do the tints in Jersey,

He said it won't cost more than £200 so Im excited, think Im gon wait till I install my ICE and body parts first though.

What do you ppl reckon is a good tint level to get? He says he has 60% and 30% film, anyone have any ideas?

30% tint is just a bit council.
60% is full-on high rise.

the police have a piece of equipment that tests the light that goes through tinted windows, if not enough light goes through they can order you to change them back.
if there wern't people like me,
with cars like mine,
who would you put down to make yourself feel better?

i'm pretty sure the tints on my soarer are 30%. Sometimes they look quite dark and other times you can see clean into the cabin.

I got mine done for about £120 and that was a touring. I wouldn't try it yourself, to do the rear window the guy cut out lots of little strips to go in between the heating elements so I presume you can't just slap it on.
