Blasting my wheels...what media?

I have done a bit of blasting in the past and am gonna refurbish my wheels over the next couple of weeks?

Got a single bag glemco pot and lines...just need an opinion on what media would be best suited to alloys, considering how soft they can be. Everything I have used in the past would be much to harsh.

I think you mean 'medium'

Glass bead is the proper way to do it but I have used kiln dried sand from the builders merchants before with no problems

i would use something very fine, glass is probably a good bet as you can get it very fine, but it tends to have softer edges than sand too, which should make it a lot less harsh on the softer alloy

if you can't get anything other than really harsh/sharp stuff, use a low pressure to start with and keep on going over and over so as to not eat into the alloy too much

Thanks for the advice though. Gonna try kiln sand at low pressure to start with as you suggested.
