yeah they look a good deal more powerful than the 135?ish bhp e46 i drove, i especially like the sound of 350Nm at 1700rpmM5pilot wrote:Anyboy is right, E90 320d will leave a 318iS. Once remapped it will leave a 325i aswell.

You drive one. The push from 80 -120 in sixth is pretty staggering - comparable to a 740i. It does more than 47 averahe too, more like 50. On a cruise (80 with c/c on) it registers 60+ mpg on the instantaneous display.
The weight is one thing (countered by massive torque), but aerodynamics are another. Top speed of a 320d E90 is 145 mph.
The old 150 bhp E46 would register 145 on the speedo (true 139 on GPS) on the autobahn and the E90 is a more powerful and slippery car.
Amazing to think a 320d is virtually as fast all out as an XJS from 30 years ago (V12 300 bhp) and is four times as economical.

thanks for all the iput ndyboy and dan318is especially an i apollagise for my igoerence
Don't be disheartened with 12 bhp, it's a very respectable gain on a standard engine and you wouldn't get that much more unless you spent a lot of time and money.
A pity BMW didn't make them with 148 bhp as standard.
yeah that is pretty impressive. what are your thoughts on your e90 (all round, not just engine)? did you like the e46? i need to give some thought towards what car i'm gonna get next. not sure if it'll be a petrol/lpg or diesel, but have had the 318is for 5/6 years now, done 70k in it, think its time to stop faffing about and buy something newish - I do too many miles to drive an old shitter around. no idea what to get though, never bought a modern car before, always bought old stuff.Andyboy wrote:You drive one. That's very nice.
You can make a 335d give that sort fo torque quite easily. Transmission is not designed to take that sort of power though and won't last very long.
Tuning needs to have a certain level of responsibility, it's not just about how much power you can extract.

123d M-Sport with some options would be a weapon.. faster than a 325i with 55mpgAndyboy wrote:It's mentally fast as well. Spend 50 grand on an M3? Forget it! A 123d is as fast as you need to go.Jhonno wrote:the new 123d lump is a staggering proposition.. 207bhp from a 2.0 turbo diesel!!![]()

i wish bmw had made them more powerfull from standard that would have made my life less stessful lmao
I agree with you, but as you were there and aware, this was done only to see what "could" be achieved with this engine and not for retail to the end user.M5pilot wrote:That's very nice.

For end user around 58hp and 120nm for the 335d and 54hp and 95nm for the 330d as run at surrey rolling road is about right.
Oh...we agree on something then!
This is really tit for tat when the truth is simple, the facts are that there are only a couple of companies that offer 318iS tuning and in truth, as a member here there is only one choice, the shop who sponsor this site.
These cars are too old for any revolutionary mapping to come out of the woodworm, what can be done has been done many moons ago and the truth is, the best possible mods are allready there which means no amount of testing will improve it beyond a limit of recognition.
At £80 for the chip through the forum shop your not going to get a better choice and no matter who tells you different, DO NOT USE chips from unknown sources, there are people on eBay selling chips for pennies, I find it crazy looking through this forum when people have asked should they buy them when in truth the large majority of e30 owners keep these cars on the tightest of budgets and dont really have the funds to spend on them but will happily risk there engine on something so cheap and unproven.
There is a cd that has been floating around on eBay for around 3 years full of what is called "Celeste" files which is tuning files from a company called "Celeste" and based in Trino in Italy, I personally have access to all files on there database and the files on these eBay cd`s do not relate to the Celeste ones and in many cases the file names themself is the only modification in the maps
There are also fileswap servers that have many USA maps availible for download but these are no good for the Euro markets with maps inncorrect for our fuel types.
Spend money and get a proper product and for £80 if you spent even 5 minutes trying to search for a cheaper price you need to rethink how you value your time.

Nice sum up! I agree...
Back to the map itself, I've noticed that the power decrease after 6K is more pronounced with the chip. Well, considering the chip rev limit increased to 7K, and the power curve, I cant find any advantadge in taking the revs so high...

hey, this chip sounds good, i've got a standard iS thats gagging for a mod or two, how much are these chips? i've bought but not fitted yet a stainless racing manifold, it doesnt marry up so am gonna have to make the system up myself when i get time, with this and a big bore throttle body, would that make this chip pointless as its meant for standard engines?
