I am selling my 320 hopfully but am meeting the buyer halfway, so i need it insured. it has tax and mot, i just need insurance for the day. Is this possible?
I have a car insured with norwich union, and when i last changed cars they charged me Ԛ£25 to insure my old one for 2 weeks. But this car im selling has never been insured by me so not sure they would do a one off insurance.
ANy help would be appreciated

not too sure about this one...
think Zayyan can add cars to his insurance for pennies-maybe send him a PM or summat
should be able to insure it for a day no probs, assuming it has tax and test

I think most companies will insure for one day if you explain the reason, but it can be quite expensive for 1 day though.

Pretty sure this can be done, just take a trip down to a local insurance broker they should be able to sort you out.

If it's in the same or lower insurance group you should be able to remove the normal car from the policy for the day and add the one you want for no extra charge.
If it's in a higher insurance group they'll charge you.
I haven't tried adding any cars to my own policy but a friend who'd just turned 18 with a policy in his own name and 1yrs NCB driving a group 2 Clio 1.2 litre got a quote of Ԛ£6.70 for 1 and a half days (he rang up at 12 midday to insure it the next day and they said it's insured from that moment until 11:59pm the next day) for a group 12 E30 316i, and that's leaving the Clio on the insurance too. This was with Churchill.
So from that example it shouldn't be too expensive.
You'd be much better off ringing up and putting up with the customer service line, you'll get the answers much quicker and I doubt they'll be able to give you a quote by email anyway.
Good luck

thanks for the good luck wish...
the car i have insured is a 414 rover, group 9 for some daft reason. the car i want to insure is a 320i BM though so i will get charged. But i need both cars insured as i will drive one, b/f will drive the other as i'll need a lift back after delivery!
as for customer services, i get frustrated as the people on the other end never understand me. may be my english.. but i dont think so. Ive put off ringing them to say they got my address wrong cos it took me half hour to get it as near as it is now. least its got house name and postcode.
if i move back home to wales, then i'll have hours of fun trying to explain there is no street name or house number.. a concept that they cannot seem to grasp.

If the 320 is definitely sold, and is no longer legaly yours, then you can drive it, 3rd party only, under the section of your other policy (that most have) that allows you to drive cars not belonging to you.

that is correct, HOWEVER, it must be remembered that the car still has to be insured by the registered keeper (whoever buys it) for the 3rd party clause to be valid...Brianmoooore wrote:If the 320 is definitely sold, and is no longer legaly yours, then you can drive it, 3rd party only, under the section of your other policy (that most have) that allows you to drive cars not belonging to you.

It's a good idea but I reckon you'll be buggered if the V5 is still in your name

true...unless you can get the buyer to sign it before you set off?! (post it?) may be a bit risky...Zayyan wrote:It's a good idea but I reckon you'll be buggered if the V5 is still in your name
personally i'd just add it to my policy for a day/week

Yea, forgot it still has to have primary insurance, but if the new owner is intending to drive it home, then it should have, unless of course he's thinking along the same lines as this, but the other way around.
