This is a first for me so thought id show of some pics of my progress :D
Bought these wheels for my 36 a couple of months ago.
Rims are a bit knackered/bashed up but got mint Michelin Pilots all round and wider rears, all 5 for £170 isnt bad.
Anyway decided it was about time to tidy them up a bit.Dont want everyone who sees them thinking I did all the kerb damage do I 8O
Doing each wheel 1 at a time so starting with the spare on a `trial and error` basis.

First pic shows extent of the kerbing/laquer(sp) peel, look even worse in the flesh!

and after an hour of sanding....

Pretty happy with the results although ive now got to get some finer sandpaper like 1500/2000 and some metal polish, ill pick these up in the next few days!

Let me know what you think, good or bad but remember im no pro at this

Looking good so far Tony. With your eye for detail it should certainly be a good read.

What about the polishing mops you get from machine mart with the two bars of soap?

Thanks Dave
Not trying to achieve pro results, think thatll be imposible to be honest.
One of them has a little chunk out of the edge so going to get my mate Chris to infill with TIG,hopefully once ground flat itll hide well, time will tell though.

Not looked into polish yet but was just going to get some autosol, only cause thats the only one ive ever heard of.

Ill look into the mop you said though, sounds interesting(and easier?

Autosol will take fooking ages mate, Not overly aggressive so will not remove the sanding marks easily.

Should speed things up a touch.

Looks spot on at that price mate! Different grades of polish too so you can refine the finish easily.

Looks worth the money, just take care with the end of the arbour (metal bit that goes into the chuck), Could scratch if you catch it.

Pm me your address, I'll send you some wheel sealant that will create a barrier between the brake dust and the rim. Will be nice and easy to apply when they are nice and clean after all this, Worth doing to protect your hard work. :)

I look forward to seeing how these turn out Tony. I've got crappo 1 piece BBS lookalikes from 'Dodgy Ray' ATM
but they do the job and would look quite good if re-furbed. They're not worth sending away to be done so it will have to be a DIY job. The 'fun' bit looks as though it will be the X-spokes, will be interested in how you go about it and the end result.

Don't want to derail but to those with single piece bbs stockers don't lose hope, I just finished spraying mine sebring grey (as per total bmw magazine touring) and they came out really well.
