Ways to screw more HP from my 325....+ an ECU question

Without getting silly and spending 1000's what are the most basic ways to screw more power from my 2.5 lump?

Also i had to change the ECU recently as the original had got damp (Baur) and started to corrode. The replacement i have fitted is from a 325 Sport...what difference will this make....or will it be tooo subtle to notice

There is no difference. A 325 is a 325, they all put out the same power. The sport had a different gearbox.
