That engine mount....photos.

Well, the engine mount finally failed today, when driving over a speedbump coming out of the scrap yard where I'd just been to pick up.....a new subframe. I managed to drive about 40 miles with the engine only held in by one mount. The steering was very heavy because the remains of the mount were touching the rack rod arm.

Rather oddly, even with the engine wobbling around it made very little noticeable difference to the handling! Once it finally broke and the mount touched the rack, then that was noticeable since the steering was heavy.

I've just bought a Z3 rack to replace it with though.

Correction; I've been out on some decent B roads today and the handling is much better. Oddly, the rear seems more planted. Must be something to do with weight transfer. The car is sublime!

It's not too bad. Support the engine via jack/axle stands under the sump. I had some difficulty getting it all to line up, sorted by loosening all of the bolts and wobbling the engine around.

I did both of mine not so long ago....... not too bad......getting to the bolts from above can be abit trick especially if the engine has moved a lot.......... as said you will probably need another person to wiggle the engine about as you lower it back down so it sits correctly!
