Just bought one of these and fancy spending a few quid for an easy performance boost, i know loads of people do chips for the diesel versions but does anyone know a good chip for the 3 litre petrol? its the same engine as in the 3 series afaik.

Cheers,

Gains will be minimal, less than 5%, for chipping/remapping an m54 engine, or indeed any nasp engine generally. You may get a more noticeable gain if its an n52 as bmw seem to be tweaking this engine all the time, it was 258 bhp when it came out and is now over 270 in the 3 and 5 series, but then they may changing more than just the map...
You'll probably get a bit more out of it if you improve the exhaust/intake at the same time, if you want to modify an e60 that much.
Btw m54 has a 6500 rpm redline, n52 7000.

Its a 53 plate if that helps, 530i petrol, non sport, although i dont think that changes engine spec. I dont beleive this engine changed until quite recently but could be wrong.

The M54 engine reacts very well to remapping, we've done lots of these.

There's not alot to gain in terms of "peak" power but the low end torque really does get a big improvement and driveability is much enhanced.
