My car just failed it's MOT because of "O/S bottom ball joint excess play". Presumably I want to replace both control arms then, right? And while I'm there has anyone got any advice on replacing other parts in that area? Track rod ends?

Change the complete lower track control arms dude, its an easy enough job TBH, apart from getting them out of the rear lollipop bushes, washing up liquid and some twirling will see them free though.
If you're considering a bit of a front end rebuild then fit the complete track rod assy, thats inner and outer balljoints from the rack to the wheels sorted, GSF do them for around Ԛ£11.00
indeed get the arms from GSF but insist on the BQ units as the otthers are very low grade indeed.
keep us posted dude.

If your driving style is anything other than a sunday morning grandad then you would do well to change the rear bushes for powerflex items while its apart.Luke wrote: And while I'm there has anyone got any advice on replacing other parts in that area?
Think they are about Ԛ£35 for the pair. Ԛ£ for Ԛ£ one of the best mods I've done
Oh! and a lot easier to fit than the O.E. one too!

Pretty sure they will fit mate, but may be worth putting a "M3 Powerflex bushes" post. I know there are guys that have done this on the zone. Do the M3 offsets need to be set up to get the right geometry (sp?)

get the non offset solids if you plan to stick with 15" rims
16" and above get the offsett jobbies dude, eithere will fit straight onto your existing setup no problemo
should you feel the need to replace your rear subframe bushes can I recommend you dont fit poly ones in there though.... the noise/ride is appaling on our wonderfully expensive roads.....
