Went in the back of a civic at some lights yesterday. Road was slippery and must have lost concentration for a second, my fault. Had my 18 month old son and dog in the car but everyones fine. Just nipped out for something, didn't have my phone, wallet or a pushchair with me, but matey let me borrow his phone for a taxi. He had some cracked panels and his boot floor looked a bit crumpled but not too bad really. Front of the touring stoved in.
Wouldn't really have minded as I was looking for an excuse to buy my mates nice royal blue lowered, tuned 325i touring and my m40 motor was sounding like it was gonna die any day but only 2 weeks ago I swapped my insurance to 3 party fire and theft as I was looking to save some pennies.
May have a few bits for sale soon like:
Rust free sunfoof
Uncracked dash
GSF fuel tank (1 year old)
Bosal back box and aftermarket cat mid section(1 year old)

If the engine was mint I might consider fixing her but it was a rattly bugger. Probably needs 2 wings, bonnet, valance, radiator and a light. Also the clutch pedal's dissapeared so somethings wrong there. At the end of the day it's an average spec 318i so I'll just sell off the good bits and scrap it. I'll put a proper list up when I've had a chance for a proper look.

As long as everyone's okay that's all that matters, cars can be replaced!

Would love to see pics of the tuned 325 winkeye

Glad all's well with you and your son, and the dog of course. Shame about the car, but maybe someone was giving you a hint to get on and buy the blue one...

This blue 325i touring belonged to mates brother in law who is a top notch bmw/porsche mechanic. Some porsche customer left it for free (!) as he'd got a new 911- he used it as a garage runabout then passed it to my mate for nowt. Turns out it's lowered on bilsteins etc. , got A/C that works, posh strut brace, performance exhaust, been chipped, full electrics, computer. Only things wrong with it are sagging headlining, rubbish interior and needs new tyres-all the things that were good on my car! That's a stroke of luck eh?
Oh and it's got ABS so maybe next time I won't crash!
Obviously the fact that my son is ok is the main thing for me. It wasn't that fast but obviously these cars are made to crumple on impact and boy did it crumple.
And my IS lip survived!!!!!!

from what iv seen they crumple back to about where yours has and then turn into proper hard basterds. theres only about a foot or so of crumplezone.

gutting about changing the insurance though, i guess thats just how it goes.

Thanks for all your words of concern people. Thing is; I really do consider myself a very good driver, I'm always very aware of what's going on the road, always know when a pedestrian is gonna walk out when i'm making a turn, always know when a driver isn't going to look right before pulling out in front of me. I don't take the piss in built up areas, don't tailgate other drivers. Especially having a baby in the car, I never take risks-just goes to show that it only takes a momentary lapse and can happen to anyone.
But hey it's only a car (GRRRRRRR!)

Sorry to see your touring in that sorry state!

Can't have been a good day for BMW drivers called matt!

I crashed mine to!!

come off a round about sideways in the wet an hit a plastic bolard and the concrete plinth it stands, on bent the sill and jacking point! Not as bad as yours so it will definately be getting repaired! :D :D

I'm very sorry to hear that Matt, I've read the amount of work that's gone into your car. A no-brainer for you, the supercharged IS is definatley worth fixing no matter what. Fully comp I hope!

Ya i'am fully comp but i wount be claiming, got a audi 80 2ltr 16v i'll sell to pay for the work! going to get beardymat on the zone to do the work for me, i've seen what he did to his sport and was well imprested :D

all the damage is at sill level, crumpeled the bottom of the wing, pushed the sill in half way down and just to say cought the jacking point. Only hit a square plastic "keep left" bolard and the plinth didnted the chassis rail but not in a place that matters and not in a major way

And also poped tyre and bent the rim, but i've got a collection of spares luckely!

Never going to drive it in the wet again since it was resparyed (paint had faded, no rust or other damage) its been dry miles only! :D
