Just noticed my '"grandad style"" recaros have a dangerously Chav pattern to them, and someone on this sight mentioned that my blue angel eyes are chav, nice whos up for a school yard wheel spin.
Does that mean i an Chav??? if so the first one in Bahrain (and most of the 8 qualifiers aslo are approppriate for my car!)

Anyway E30 cant be proper chav cars as when you spin your 13 inch 145's in a Saxo whilst coming out of a right hand bend next to the lollypop lady on a damp school morning with a fag in your young hand a saxo will keep on spinnin and creating plenly of noise, try that with a rear car driven by the real set of wheels, Nah not gonna happen!

DTM or any other offensive noisey exhaust 4. Tinted glass , only factory green or if it is an old sh*tter bronze tints allowed 5. non standard badging or decals I.E Dave+Tracey across the windscreen or worse Clifford ! M badges on non deserving cars are deeply suspect and that includes sports ! 6. TVs and big ice or multimedia is also a sure sign of an attention seeking chav 7. The presence of a clifford alarm is a surefire give away of a council chariot, the fact it goes off all the time and renders the car virtually impossible to start even if you are the owner is considered a real plus by the council types as every one will be looking at you in the argos car park and know that you are the owner of the vehicle you are fighting with. 8. Any non o.e body parts are an obvious give away including e36 front bumpers and evo X11 rear spoilers. Obviously there are many more signs of council/chav wrongness but these are a good starting point.
Hmm, I appear to be borderline on a couple of things here...

1. Mines prob lower than 30mm but then I do have aircon and the springs are for a non aircon touring

2. I chose to fit BK 171s because I think the Alpina style really suits the E30, however genuine Alpina's don't come in a 17" 4 stud fitting (except on the Z1 RLE) and if they did they would be too fcuking expensive for me! Besides, I just love the way my BK's fill the arches...

3. I have a full Scorpion system with le mans tailpipes on the touring. Louder than normal it may be but at least it has a proper sound.

5. Yes, I do have an m-tech badge on my grille, but then I have fitted some genuine m-tech items to the car and so feel justified in doing so. In fact as it stands the car is probably not far off the equivelant of a sport spec, I think all it would take is an M-tech 2 kit to finish it off, but then again I don't want to fit one as I prefer it that way.

Does this make me a chav?

By the way, I'm 30 and a civil servant.....

The sad truth these days is that a lot of people really don't appreciate the cars they own and drive and I think thats the difference between the likes of us lot on here and the general chav populace.......

Thanks for reading, I'll go back to being quiet now...... :thumb:

Hell I must be a chav as well......

Car is low its a cabriolet 17" wheels mtec badges on front grill rear boot steering wheel seats full scorpian exhaust m3 e36 side skirts but the only thing I slip up on is the alarm mines a toad not clifford must get that changed and sell the 1/4 mil house to get a council flat

Has anyone watched the latest Fifth Gear episode? They have the results of a survey on Britain's most prestigous (?) car in the 3 series class. When talking about the 3 series the presenter, Jon Bentley, says "Buy a new one and there's always the fear that the bloke in the 10 year old one will draw up along side you at the traffic lights. Then wink at you in a jesture of brotherly familiarity, prior to burning you off in a cloud of blue exhaust smoke."
I was thinking about this the other day. The thing buyers of new BMWs must hate most of all is seeing old ones on the road.
TBH I'm not interested in prestige and all that crap. Personally all I want is a car that I enjoy driving. The E30 provides what I want in a cost effective manner. ie: it's a good way of getting a decent rwd platform.

The E30 was always a borderline barry boy car round here over the last few years. Not so much anymore, they're becoming rarer. The sport body kit is probably the most barry BMW you will see as std. Not to say I don't like it though.

The final decision on chavviness is in the tasteless addition of tat, like Lexus style lights, large tail pipes on small engined cars, neon washer jets, mecanno rear spoilers, oversized wheels and the like.

Chav is a recent addition to the english language , i know of two possible definitions 1. Council Housed And Violent (or Vile !) or 2. a native of chatham in kent , oops i just realized they are one and the same !

Sometimes E30's are owned by chavs.

Then again, a small percentage of most cars are owned by chavs.

E30's do tend to attract more chavs than other cars, like Fiestas and so on because they are 'cool'.

Damn chavs.

Funnily enough there are more chavs in MR2s round here than E30s - Followed some proper chav bird in one this morning as I left Halfrauds.

However as Dave pointed out a certain anything is going to be owned by them really. Luckily I have not been to Chatham recently, next time I do I will be on the lookout for E30s...

At the end of the day one mans tasteful mod is another mans violation. If you are happy with it, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

Besides it will provide some form of entertainment for someone and something to laugh and point at anyway.

ALL jap imports i.e turds with square number plates ,hang on fog lights and ridiculously low mileage are chav chariots. Next time you see a loser in a 3 tone pajero (spanish for w*nker i believe !) check out his tom and his tats and tell me i'm wrong !. Obviously mr2 turbos are exempt as we all know they are a proper mans chariot owned and driven by executives and heros and ' men in dandism'

ALL you 3 series drivers are chavs :P just kidding

Especially Richy with his M badges :P :P :P

Nah it's all a load of crap, I don't care what people think, I drive a BMW 'cos there is NOTHING else that drives as good, it could be the chavviest chav chavriot ever invented since the Mk3 Cavalier SRi, I'd still drive one because when I fire up the sexy six pot, be it 3, 5, or 7 (got 'em all 8) ) and go for a blast down a twisty road, or a series of roundabouts, or showing all the fwd boys how to do figure-of-8 doughnuts, I get a big grin on my face. Ultimate Driving Machine, or something.

Anyway, I'm a chav 'cos I live on a council estate, drive a beaten up borderline roadworthy E30, own several baseball caps and I don't care anyway so sod off

Ahh, thanx Ian & pacerpete. Now I understand exactly what a chav is, in my neck of the woods we call em scags. But the confusing thing is that I'm not sure if I qualify or not, border line me thinks.

You up in Loughborough seeing Jon anytime anyway? Will have to meet up with you both and show you what 2 years of love, care and lots of money have done for my E30 (f**k all except keep it off the scrapheap)

In defence of the Clifford

I've had the same one for about 18 yrs and it doesn't false alarm
I don't have problems with it not letting me start the car

And YES it does a clifford sticker on it to let everyone know not to bother trying

It reads
PROTECTED BY CLIFFORD
So F**k Off You Theiving B**tards

The later ones dud have a reliability issue iirc

The question is. has this changed in three years? i think E30s have got less chav as they go on... ie rarer and more expensive. also chavs dont like retro-cars. they like to think ten years old is modern

I also use Clifford alarms, and have never had a single problem with them. I had an old Concept50 for about 11 years, and it never went wrong or false alarmed once. I currently have one of the latest G5 alarms, and this has also been fautless.

The problem with Clifford alarms is that they don't tolerate being installed my monkeys, but nearly all fitters (VSIB or otherwise) fall into this category. Fit and set them up properly, and they are superb.
