What have most people done when replacing the stock tacho/dials? I am ripping mine out and reducing the wiring and wondered wether it's best to use the exsisting wires in the multi plug's or to run fresh wiring from the coil/senders. Any pic's would be a great help.

Yeah that's the kind of thing I'm looking at building but with carbon fibre and Stack/SPA tacho and gauges. A few "Oh F**K" lights as well!winkeye

I really want to know if its best to use the feed from the ecu for the gauges or make a new loom. Getting to the point were I need to be getting on with it and hate grinding to a halt :(

Nothing actually wrong with it but would just like some accurate stepper gauges and have no need for fuel, mpg or speedo. It's all just clutter that I can live without. A tacho and some shift lights and a warning of meltdown are all that's required!

A lot further South! Essex. You been a Linesman long? I've just done 18 yrs. Work on the Hot Glove Team so pole climbing is a bit of a rarity :)

Coming up to the busy time of year....Lots of overtime eh?

Stick with it fella. It's a good job and I wouldn't want to do much else (apart from racing cars!). Funny enough I've just got an application for an instructors job but think I might prefer it out in the field.

I drive the unimog for our team. Different handling than a 325i that's for sure.

I haven't climbed 8 poles this year! Working live line it's "Bucket or F**k it!"

We come up to Scotland whenever were needed for storm work. I'll give you a shout next time we go.

I've always wanted have a go at knockhill. The Btcc and the Superbikes always look good there. I will try and get up there next year.

With all the HSE stuff and the no free climbing policy I reckon climbing will become almost obsolete in 10-15 years. Were mean't to use scaffold before spikes! No one does though!

HSE will want everyone wrapped up in rubber suits and bubble wrap in next 10-15 years !

scaffolding ?? im sure we have some somewhere in the depot.

ladders and mobile lifting equipment are used the most.

sadly im not going to be poles all that long, i will be off to play with pylons soon !
