whats the best LSD to use on an m20 with sport box? 3.91 is what the sports came with am i correct, and how would a 3.73 compare

Either would be fine,you wouldn't notice much differance between those ratios.

you WILL notice a difference, ive tried both in my 2.7 and with the 3.73, the car lost shove in 3rd..... sport diff is better, however if ure doing mway miles..... then id go for the 3.7 everytime sport diff shows 4250rpm at 100mph which is too high, as at about the same rpn in 5th with the 3.73 diff u r doing a cool 120mph......

I installed a 3.73 LSD yesterday. When cornering with 215/40-17 tyres the tail sticks in second if you don't hit the clutch. Of course, the bhp is still 170, so I wasn't expecting anything drastic. However, corners are much faster with loads of grip, especially with the convertible whose chassis is not as stiff. Donuts are VERY easy, will be contacting the local tyre dealer in a short while . Compared to my old 3.91 open diff, there is a slight difference in smoothness, revs and mileage.

yes thats right BUT find a 3.73 LSD u won't! u can get 3.91 or 3.64 LSD's abit easier. I would stick with the 3.91 better acceleration and they are not that bad on the m-way. No worse than your 318 is now i expect

yeh, i dont really do much motorway miles so 3.91 is the way i will go i think. prefer low down grunt.
