As the title says, the hood flap is not locking anymore!

It looks like the thing that turns on the motor is no longer moving - any ideas?

is the flap still going up and down...if so the mtrs still working..does it make a noise like a machine gun when trying to lock..if so the gears are fcuked and you need a new motor ..are the bowden cables broken if so the hooks wont move ...try it with the allen key and see if yoiu can lock it that way

What thing got bent as mine goes up and down but fails to lock at the last bit also, to leave the flap raised about 1/2 inch.

Its the bit connected to the motor which raises and drops the flap.

You need to bend it back somehow!

I unscrewed it and whacked it with a hammer a few times!

i thought part 4 moved the flap and part 10 moved the bowden cables which lock the flap down

mine locks fine with the hood up, on the last movement, but fails to lock down properly when the hood is down. Not sure the hood is folding correctly!

does it lock at all..

my thoughts are that the central motor turns to raise and lower the flap and on the last movement turns the lever that moves the cables which force down the flap to lock it ...if the cables are not adjusted properly it will not pull the flap down and secure it.............i might be wrong

OK Dave, how do you adjust the cables or do you need new ones if they are slightly slackened?
I assume that this wil then tighten them enough to close the flap on completion of the hood folding away, whether it be electronically or by hand if the main motor is disconnected do to main motor failure.
Personally don't mind folding the top manually as it ensures there are no creases in the hood or screen, plus you can place a cloth in between the screen folds to avoid any scratching. Just annoying that the flap dosen't fully close.
Andy.

I found that the way it works is as follows:

The Leaver (number 4 on the pic) revolves round to move the flap up and down.

On the bit behind the flap lever (number 10) - connected to the cables, there is a notch which the lever hits and turns this causing the cables to tighten and slacken when going the other way.

In my case, the lever got bent so was not hitting this notch and therefore the cables were not getting taught.

This was also the case with my mate's cab

Anyway - good luck and let us know how you get on!

Trust me, it is always part number 4 that is bent. Bending it back will help, but I seriously recommend buying a new one, not too expensive.

Gromit, fcukin star. Item 4 was bent slightly. Not really arsed about fixing the electric motor now as the only thing bugging me was the flap not closing tight. Thanks very much for the fix.
