Finally back on the road after breaking down n the way back from Le Man.

Has since been fitted with a Z3 steering rack and short shift as well as a JBR ally flywheel.

The shocks are Bilstein B8s and it lowered on 35mm KW springs, has powerflex M3 eccentric bushes fitted, new wishbones and new rear top mounts so i handles like a dream now everything is tracked up.

Now i just need an LSD and some better brakes.

How much and what Z3 rack are you using?

Its from a 1.9 Z3, cost £135 from Quarry Motors. Is a fully refurbished item inc. new track rods and P&P. Then cost me another £20 to have some custom pipes made.

If your changing the rack on an iS its just as easy to do this and the difference it makes is awesome, may even fit ok on your 318i.

I'm guessing custom pipes are for PAS?

Can't see it being too hard on a 318i as I probably will have access to a ramp etc.

Yea, you can get away with some hose pipe for the return to be honest though and crimp the ends on.

The only issue is clearence on the manifold but yours should be fine since its a 4pot.

seriously mate, unless your driving on the track dont bother getting rid of pas.

e30 is heavy on the steering when non pas.

as you are learning, reverse parking and manovers in general will be a bitch.

Ajay, the chain guide had become brittle and had started to break up.

Very smart ....the only thing i'd add is to spray the orange part of the rear lights red...makes a massive difference on red cars!

Look the biz -

I got my 3.64 LSD from Jonb on the zone. As for brakes I use braded hoses 5:1 fluid and EBC yellow stuff pads for the track which work really well on standard brakes and discs (wish-list would be Wilwood 4 pot but £400 is missing from my bank account at the moment )

Lloydie, I'm already using 5:1 fluid and braided hoses, it just my discs and pads are rubbish, might go for some green stuff pads since it only gets road use and leave the discs since they have got plenty of live in them still. PM replied to

Charlie, can't make my mind up about the skirts, somtimes i like the look of them and sometimes i'm a bit undecided really.

Stu, they are 195/50/15, majorly wrong size but when your skint you take what you can get.

i recommend EBC redstuff ceramic pads for the front with greenstuff on the rear especially on EBC drilled/grooved discs. never cooked mine once even with the hardest abuse i could give them
how did you recover the car from abroad? ive heard horror storys in the past about insurance companys writing cars of rather than paying the expence of foreign recovery

Fuzzy, i was lucky and only noticed the noise in Calais so managed to get back to theM25 before i pulled over. I'd heard horror stories like that but the AA assured me that my european cover included full recovery regardless of the value of my car.

E30 racks are 4 turns lock to lock, Z3 racks are 2.7 turns lock to lock.

well worth it i'd say, its the only thing that annoys me about the e30, takes two years to go lock to lock
