hi guys
after ripping the head off of my m20 2.5 turbo engine
and throwing away the decomp plate i decied to get a oversized head gasket from the dealers

fitted it all up yesterday and ran it

done bout 20miles
so i deceided to check the oil and water

oil mixing in with water and water in oil

im guessing head fucked

ive got another head which im gonna put on that i know its fine

but wen i bought the oversized headgasket i was told that i bought the last one

so im gonna see how long it takes to get another one.

but im thinking of getting a mls

but theres a few types
080" thick
120" thick
140" thick
stock thick

which one should i go for

thanks hass

i have a stock mls, mailny for the squish issues. stock cr is fine for turbos, but most people seem to go for .120 over stock when they go oversized.
stock compression should be good for up to 18psi with a good tune.

18psi with good tune with a large Holset Sean, Hass is running a small T3 with a 48trim turbine iirc, thats way too much backpressure in the cyls for my liking.

Hass, seems you were too quick chucking the decomp plate, I have used those with great effect and no relaibilty issues on a couple of customer cars, not MY 1st choice but it does the job well enough for the outlay.

gutted for you though dude, I can appreciate the frustration :x

Hass,

My mate James has used the thickest MLS gasket and had problems with it, to a point where he binned it and bought another, the just over stock thickness.

When I'm there this weekend fitting my new engine ( :woohoo: ) I'll get some pics of the old one and how it failed.

The one thing all the info around using these says, is make sure the head and block are flat, otherwise they will not seal.

HTH, Mark.

Here's a link I found about headgaskets. You probably all know this already but I though I'd chuck it in and see.
